Definitions
- the present invention relates to a microwave rotary switch, consisting of a housing with a plurality of waveguide connections and a rotor arranged in the housing and carrying at least one waveguide, this waveguide producing a signal connection between two waveguide connections in a specific position of the rotor.
- Such a rotary switch is known from DE-29 24 969.
- Such rotary switches with z. B. 4 or scgar 6 signal inputs or outputs are used, for example, to switch on reserve devices such as transmitters and receivers in a message transmission system instead of failed main devices.
- the microwave rotary switch known from DE-29 24 969 is completely implemented in waveguide technology, this applies both to the waveguide connections on the fixed housing and to the waveguides on the rotor. Due to the implementation in waveguide technology, the rotary switch is quite heavy and has relatively large dimensions.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a microwave rotary switch of the type mentioned, which requires less space and is lighter than the known rotary switches.
- the rotor carries an electrically conductive plate which is provided with at least one gap serving as a waveguide, and in that each gap runs through a cavity let into the housing and into the rotor.
- the microwave rotary switch according to the invention advantageously has a low transmission loss, a high decoupling between switched and non-switched waveguides and a good adaptation.
- the microwave rotary switch shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 consists of a fixed housing, the lower part 1 of which is closed with a cover 2, and a rotor 3 rotatably mounted in the housing.
- Signal connections between any two of the four waveguide connections are made by means of waveguides arranged on the rotor 3.
- three waveguides are required. These three waveguides are realized by three gaps 8, 9 and 10, which are embedded in an electrically conductive plate 11 fastened to the rotor 3.
- the two columns 8 and 10 offset from the center of the plate 11 are curved so that, depending on the position of the rotor, they have signal connections between adjacent waveguide connections, that is to say the coaxial conductors 4 , 5 or 5, 6 or 6, 7 or 7.4, produce.
- the gap 9 which runs in a straight line through the middle between the outer columns 8 and 10, leads signals from a waveguide connection to the respectively opposite one, that is to say from the coaxial conductor 4 to the coaxial conductor 6 or from the coaxial conductor 5 to the coaxial conductor 7, when the rotor is in an appropriate position.
- cavities 12, 13, 14 and 15 are embedded in the housing cover 2 and in the rotor 3 above and below the column.
- the housing cover 2 has a cavity 12 adapted to the diameter of the rotor, and a channel 13, 14, 15 is milled into the rotor 3 below each gap 8, 9, 10.
- shielding webs 16 and 17 are arranged on the electrically conductive plate 11 between the columns 8, 9 and 9, 10.
- the electrically conductive sheet 21 has four gaps 22, 23, 24 and 25 which are coupled to the inner conductors of the coaxial conductors 4, 5, 6 and 7 and which extend as far as the inner edge of the sheet 21 and thus the continuation of the waveguides 8 running on the rotor, 9, 10 form. Below and above the gaps 22, 23, 24 and 25 in the sheet 21, the cavities 26, 27, 28 and 29 required for the propagation of the waves in the gaps are also milled into the lower housing part 1 and the cover 2.
- the coupling of the coaxial conductors 4, 5, 6 and 7 to the gaps 22, 23, 24 and 25 is carried out in the simplest way by galvanically contacting the coaxial inner conductors with the sheet metal 21 in the vicinity of the gaps.
- the waveguide connections can also be made using waveguide or planar conductor technology (strip, slot or fin conductors) instead of coaxial.
- materials e.g. aluminum
- materials e.g. aluminum
- coefficient of thermal expansion are used for all parts of the microwave rotary switch so that there are no tensions between the housing and the rotor in the event of temperature changes.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1 die Draufsicht und
- Fig. 2 einen Querschnitt A-A durch einen Mikrowellen-Drehschalter.
