Description

The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece which has a plurality of support surfaces, which are separate from the working edges of the suction opening and are arranged behind the suction opening in the working direction of the mouthpiece, at least one of which consists of a pair of wheels and at least one is adjustable in height.

Such a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece is known from US-A-2 240 799. In this mouthpiece, a pair of wheels is provided as a support surface immediately behind the suction opening. Another pair of wheels, which also forms a support surface, is arranged on the rear of the mouthpiece housing in a height-adjustable manner. A guide tube for moving the mouthpiece back and forth is articulated on the mouthpiece housing above the pairs of wheels. As a result of this design of the mouthpiece, the pushing force exerted on the mouthpiece creates a torque which pivots the suction opening against the surface to be extracted. The suction opening is thus pressed more or less strongly against the surface to be extracted depending on the pushing force. As a result of the changing pressure force, optimal results cannot be achieved with such a mouthpiece.

From DE-A-19 02478 a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece is known in which support edges are provided in front of and behind the suction channel provided in the base plate of the mouthpiece. If such a mouthpiece is pressed onto a carpet with too much force, the air flow necessary for the cleaning effect is largely prevented under the support edges. In order to enable a sufficient air flow even when the mouthpiece is pressed firmly against the surface to be extracted, a part of this support edge is designed to be height-adjustable on the front support edge of the mouthpiece. This part is then independent of the respective pressing force exerted on the mouthpiece always with a force dependent on its own weight or a pressing spring on the carpet pile, so that a sufficient air flow is always possible in the area of this part. The rear support edge of this mouthpiece is always loaded with the full pressure exerted on the mouthpiece.

The invention has for its object to design a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece according to the type described above so that the depth of penetration of the working edges delimiting the suction opening is optimally adapted to the different floor coverings and cannot be influenced by the force exerted on the mouthpiece.

The object is achieved according to the invention in that the pair of wheels is arranged coaxially with the pivot axis of a swivel-mounted suction nozzle and, as further support surfaces, two skids, which are narrow compared to the width of the mouthpiece, are arranged outside the width of the pair of wheels and are height-adjustable directly behind the suction opening are. In such a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece, the pushing force exerted on the mouthpiece via the suction pipe connected to the suction nozzle is fully absorbed by the pair of wheels and the skids only need to support the suction opening of the mouthpiece against the force of the negative pressure. Since the skids are arranged directly behind the suction opening, the vacuum force acts only with a small lever arm, so that the skids support the mouthpiece sufficiently despite their small contact surface.

The optimal setting of the mouthpiece with different floor coverings is achieved in that the adjustment of the corresponding contact surfaces takes place automatically as a function of the negative pressure prevailing under the mouthpiece. As a result, the contact surfaces can always be adjusted so that the same negative pressure is always achieved under the mouthpiece, regardless of the nature of the floor covering.

  • Fig. 1 ein Staubsaugermundstück im Schnitt und
  • Fig.2 eine Ansicht der Unterseite des Staubsaugermundstückes.
The subject of the application is described in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. It shows
  • Fig. 1 is a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece in section and
  • 2 shows a view of the underside of the vacuum cleaner mouthpiece.

Die Gleitkufen 8 sind an dem Staubsaugermundstück 1, wie durch Pfeile 9 angedeutet, höhenverstellbar befestigt.1 with a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece is designated, which can be connected to a suction pipe via a pivotably articulated suction nozzle 2. The vacuum cleaner mouthpiece 1 has a suction opening 5 delimited by a front working edge 3 and a rear working edge 4. A pair of wheels 7 is arranged coaxially with the swivel axis 6 of the suction nozzle 2. This pair of wheels 7 forms a bearing surface, through which the vertical component of the pushing force exerted on the suction nozzle 1 via the suction pipe connected to the suction nozzle 2 is received. Two skids 8 are arranged directly behind the rear working edge 4 of the suction opening 5. As the view according to FIG. 2 shows, the two skids 8 are narrow in relation to the width of the vacuum cleaner mouthpiece 1 and are arranged outside the width B of the pair of wheels 7 on the housing of the vacuum cleaner mouthpiece 1. The skids 8 are attached to the vacuum cleaner mouthpiece 1, as indicated by arrows 9, in a height-adjustable manner.

This height adjustability of the skids 8 can regulate the depth of penetration of the working edges 3 and 4 into the carpet pile will. Thus, the suction effect of the vacuum cleaner mouthpiece 1 can be adapted to the nature of the carpet to be vacuumed. But there is also the possibility to adjust the height of the skids 8 so that the smallest possible pushing force is required for the back and forth movement of the vacuum cleaner mouthpiece.
