Definitions

  • the invention relates to propellant charges from propellant charge powders, the energy sources of which are nitrocelluloses or nitrocelluloses and explosive oils or nitrocelluloses, explosive oils, nitroguanidine and / or hexogen, octogen, i.e. H. from propellant powders, which as one, two or. three-base propellant powder are called.
  • Propellant powder of these compositions can be manufactured as a full strand, perforated or tube powder.
  • Single-base propellant powders must be prepared with suitable solvents such as ether, alcohol, acetone to gelatinize the nitrocelluloses.
  • Two and three-base propellant powders can be manufactured without solvents if the composition is appropriate. They are called PoL powder.
  • the surface treatment that may be used for bulk powders can be disregarded in this consideration.
  • a characteristic of "homogeneous powders” is that their burning speed increases with increasing bombardment or ambient temperatures. This has the consequence that with propellant charges from “homogeneous powders” in the gun bombardment the projectile speeds at a bombardment temperature of z. B. - 40 ° C are significantly smaller than at a bombardment temperature of z. B. + 60 ° C.
  • the temperature-dependent performance of the propellant charges has considerable disadvantages, e.g. B. in terms of first strike safety and projectile performance, which by the at high temperatures of z. B. + 60 ° C occurring weapon pressure is limited.
  • Propellant powders which do not have the characteristic increase in burning speeds with increasing temperatures, which have been highlighted for "homogeneous powder", are described in DE-PS-1 771 087, DE-PS-2 042 457 and DE-OS-3 008 196 .
  • the energy sources of these propellant powders are the same as for the classic "homogeneous powders".
  • the decisive difference is the material structure of the powder mass.
  • One-, two- or three-base bulk powder called granules
  • suitable dimensions are e.g. B. incorporated into the plasticine, called the base, of a single-base propellant powder.
  • the degree of nitration of the nitrocelluloses used to produce the granules and base material is such that the granules are retained as granules in the course of the production of these powders.
  • HET powder Because of the materially heterogeneous structure in the powder grain, which is given by embedding a granulate in a powder base, these powder types are called "HET powder”.
  • HET powders have a fundamentally different temperature dependency than “homogeneous powders”. With increasing bombardment temperatures their burning speed decreases.
  • HET powders that burn off in a temperature-neutral manner would be advantageous. However, this cannot be achieved with the known powder types in a larger bombardment temperature range of several tens of degrees Celsius with the specification of heat of explosion, force and propellant powder dimensions.
  • propellant charges are obtained in a surprisingly simple manner with a combustion behavior which is temperature-neutral over a large bombardment temperature range or can be influenced in a targeted manner as a function of temperature by one or more material-homogeneous propellant charge powders (“homogeneous powder”) with one or more material-inhomogeneous propellant charge powders (“HET- Powder ”) mixes to form the propellant charge.
  • homogeneous powder material-homogeneous propellant charge powders
  • HET- Powder material-inhomogeneous propellant charge powders
  • combustion behavior which can be specifically influenced in the temperature dependency should take into account here that occasionally a weapon pressure drop is deliberately sought at extremely low firing temperatures in order to have security against an accidental increase in weapon pressure due to powder embrittlement occurring at extremely low temperatures. Likewise, a bombardment temperature which occurs comparatively high and therefore rarely or not at all occurs occasionally Weapon pressure drop may be acceptable. It is essential that it is possible the finished i 'b tbiadung easily set so with the inventive measure, by appropriate choice of powder types and used for the mixture of their mixing ratio, the combustion behavior that the burnup characteristics such as weapons pressure and projectile velocity to a greater bombardment temperature-rated range in about are constant and in any case do not become larger outside the nominal range.
  • 1 and 2 show the measured values for weapon pressure and projectile speed obtained on a 2 cm machine gun in the bombardment temperature range between -40.degree. C. and + 60.degree.
  • Part A shows the projectile speeds measured at 16 m weapon distance
  • part B the measured weapon pressures.
  • HET powder is developed for a "homogeneous powder” that is used in a type of ammunition to build up the propellant charge. This means that the heat of explosion, the force and the dimensions of the "HET powder” can be set to the same or comparable values as for the "homogeneous powder” by appropriate choice of basic composition and granulate composition and quantity of granulate.
  • the HET powder is adapted to the" homogeneous powder "in such a way that for a reference value of the bombardment temperature of, for example, -5 to -10.degree - “or” HET powder "build up propellant charges. If this is fulfilled, the pressure and speed curves of the two powders are mirror images of each other after rising and falling bombardment temperatures.
  • propellant charge is built up from a mixture of equal parts by weight of "homogeneous” and this "HET powder" adapted in the above manner, weapon pressure and projectile speed remain practically constant in the bombardment temperature range of - 40 ° C to + 60 ° C.
  • the curves labeled 1 represent the values for weapon pressure and projectile speed which were obtained with the "homogeneous propellant powder" introduced for this ammunition.
  • the curves labeled 2 represent the values obtained with the adjusted "HET powder”.
  • the curves denoted by 3 represent the values obtained with a mixture of the same weight fractions of both powders.
  • Example 2 It differs from Example 1 in that the "HET powder" used was constructed in such a way that the weapon pressure drops from higher and lower temperatures from the reference value of 0 ° C. to the bombardment temperature.
  • the curves labeled 1 again represent the values of the "homogeneous powder”
  • the curves labeled 2 represent the values of the "HET powder”
  • the curves labeled 3 represent the values obtained with a mixture of the same proportions by weight of both powders were obtained.
