Description

The invention relates to a device for producing packs with folding flaps connected by gluing, in particular cigarette packs made of cardboard, which can be fed to a first and then a second drying turret immediately after completion, each having pockets for temporarily holding the packs.

A device of this type is known from DE-A-30 46 065. This prior publication describes a packaging machine for cigarettes in which the finished packs are conveyed into a drying turret which consists of two cell wheels arranged axially one behind the other. Each of these cellular wheels is provided with pockets closed in cross section along the circumference, each for receiving a pack. The finished packs are first inserted into the innermost cell wheel and, after almost complete rotation in the axial direction, into a pocket of the second cell wheel.

The two cell wheels of the drying turret increase the total drying time available for the packs for setting glue spots. However, it has proven to be disadvantageous that the packs predried in the first cell wheel must be inserted into individual pockets of a second cell wheel, the dimensions of which correspond to those of the packs. There is a risk that in some cases the already partially hardened glue connections of the folding flaps will be displaced.

The invention is based on the object of further developing and improving a device of the type mentioned at the outset such that the stabilization of folding tabs connected to one another by adhesive at high performance of the packaging machine and in the case of packs critical with regard to the adhesive, in particular of metal-coated packaging material, without impairing the first Dry revolver pre-dried glue connections is possible.

To achieve this object, the device according to the invention is characterized in that the pockets of the first drying turret are each intended for receiving a pack, while the pockets of the second drying turret are designed for receiving a group of packs, and in that the packs from the first drying turret are designed by a feed conveyor can be transported to the second drying turret, the feeder being assigned a stowage device by means of which the number of packages intended for a packing group can be released into the assigned pocket of the second drying turret.

The invention is based on the knowledge that after the relatively long dwell time of the packs in pockets in the first drying turret, which are geared to the dimensions of individual packs relatively precisely, only a sufficient dwell time is required in the second drying turret for the packages to dry without any shaping action. For this reason, the second drying turret is provided with pockets that can hold a group of packs.

As a result, the structure of the second drying turret can be simpler and of smaller diameter.

On the way from the first to the second drying turret, according to a further proposal of the invention, the packs are held by the feed conveyor in such a way that the predried glue connections from side tabs of the packs are acted upon by belts of the feed conveyor.

The exemplary embodiment shown in the drawings relates to a packaging machine or parts thereof for the production of cuboid-shaped cigarette packs 10. These are preferably hinged boxes (hinge-lid packs) made of thin cardboard. The part of the packaging machine which relates to the production of the actual package 10 is not shown in detail, but preferably corresponds to the embodiment according to DE-OS 24 40 006.

The cigarette packs 10 are designed in such a way that in the region of narrow side surfaces 11 side flaps which overlap one another are connected to one another by adhesive. The cigarette packs 10 with adhesive that has not yet cured are conveyed on a packing track 12, are fed to a transfer turret 13 by lifting and are transferred from the latter to a first drying turret 14. This is preferably designed as described in DE-OS 26 32 968, namely with a plurality of radially directed pockets 15, each for receiving a cigarette pack 10. The pockets 15 are designed so that a forming pressure on the cigarette Packs 10 exercised and thereby their cuboid shape is corrected and stabilized. The packs are used moderately warmed slightly in this first folding turret 14.

After an almost complete rotation of the drying turret 14, the packs are pushed out of the pockets 15 by an ejector 16 and inserted into a belt conveyor directly connected to the drying turret 14, which is also a feed conveyor 17 for a further (second) drying turret 18.

The feed conveyor 17 consists of an encircling, endless upper chord 19 and an endless encircling lower chord 20. Between these, the cigarette packs 10 are received in a real position, in which the elongated side faces 11 are directed downwards and upwards, that is to say end faces 21 Point out pages.

The cigarette packs 10 are fed by the feed conveyor 17 at a distance from one another directly to the second drying turret 18 and into pockets 22 of the same. In this case, 10 pack groups 23 are formed by stowing the cigarette packs, which are each intended to be received in a pocket 22. In the present exemplary embodiment, each pack group 23 assigned to a pocket 22 consists of four cigarette packs 10.

The drying turret 18 is arranged in a plane offset by 90 ° to the first drying turret 14, both in upright planes. The pockets 22 of the second drying turret 18 are designed as continuous chambers in the axial direction, through which the packing group 23 is pushed in the axial direction. Each pocket consists of two side walls 24 and 25, one of which (side wall 25) is movable in the present case. This is part of a two-armed wall lever 26 which is pivoted about a pivot bearing 27 and the free support arm of which is supported on a stationary cam 29 by a feeler roller 28. A (tension) spring 30, which acts on the free arm of the wall lever 26, causes the side wall 25 to be loaded in the closed position. In the area of a loading station 31 and a push-out station 32, the side walls 25 are each opened by running the feeler roller 28 to raise the cam plate 29 against the tension of the spring 30. The radially outer side of the pockets 22 is delimited by a stationary ring wall 33. On the opposite side, a closed, circumferential support disk 34, to which the fixed side walls 24 and the pivotable side walls 25 are attached, forms the boundary of the pocket 22. The packs 10 are fixed between the side walls 24 and 25 by clamping.

The cigarette packs 10 transported by the feed conveyor 17 into the pocket 22 located in the loading station 31 run against a pocket stop 35 on the opposite side. In the present exemplary embodiment, this is designed as a two-armed lever with a stop projection 36 that extends from the exit side protrudes into the pocket 22. A pivot bearing 37 is attached to a fixed holding disc 38. A leg 39 of the pocket stop 35 abutting the stop projection 36 is supported by a roller 40 on a cup-shaped cam 41. A (tension) spring 42 acting on the pocket stop 35 has the effect that the roller 40 is constantly in contact with the cam disk 41, and the stop projection 36 is accordingly loaded in the direction of retraction.

When the pack group 23 is conveyed into the pocket 22, the stop projection 36 is in the position moved into the pocket 22 (solid line in FIG. 6). The pack group 23 runs against the stop projection 36. When the drying turret 18 moves further, the stop projection 36 is withdrawn (dashed position). The cigarette packs 10 can now be moved in the pocket 22 without stress. A beveled inlet edge 43 in a turret side wall 44 effects an alignment of the pack group 23 in the pocket 22 by slight displacement to the opposite side (turret side wall 45).

The pockets 22 are designed in such a way that the cigarette packs 10, which are fed in at the level of a horizontal central plane, are received in the pockets 22 with the end faces 21 in the radial direction outwards or inwards. The side surfaces 11 point in the circumferential direction.

In order to ensure trouble-free further transport of the pack group 23 in the pocket 22, the following cigarette packs are momentarily stopped in the area of the feed conveyor 17. In the present case, the cigarette packs 10 lying ahead (pent-up) in the direction of movement are stopped by clamping. For this purpose, a clamping plate 46 is movably mounted on the side next to the feed conveyor 17. This is attached to an elongated lever arm 47 which is driven in a pulsating manner by a suitable gear 48. In the position shown in FIG. 6, a plurality of cigarette packs are pressed with their end faces 21 against a fixed side guide 49 next to the feed conveyor 17. As soon as the next pocket 22 has been moved into the loading station 31, the clamping plate 46 is moved back so that the pent-up cigarette packs 10 can be conveyed into the pocket 22. The side guide 49 is connected to the turret side wall 44 in the present exemplary embodiment.

The drying revolver 18 is driven in the counterclockwise direction in the illustration in FIG. 4. The cigarette packs are located in the pockets 22 of the drying turret 18 for almost an entire revolution. The ejection station 32 is formed immediately below the loading station 31. The pack group 23 is conveyed out of the relevant pocket 22 by an ejector 50, via a tortuous intermediate piece 51, into a discharge conveyor 52. The latter also consists of upper and lower straps, between which the packs hardened with regard to adhesives are accommodated. The intermediate piece 51 consists of inclined or curved guide walls as a transition from the pocket 22 to the removal conveyor 52 extending in the horizontal plane.

The ejector 50 is designed as an angled arm with a horizontal leg 53 which, when the ejector 50 moves back and forth, is moved through the pocket 22 to be emptied as far as the discharge conveyor 52. The remaining part of the ejector 50 can be moved laterally next to the drying turret 18 mounted, namely on essentially horizontal, parallel to the drying turret 18 support rods 54. The ejector 50 thus formed is driven by a crank 55 with a rotating drive disk 56 and crank rod 57. The latter is (pivotable) with a slide 58 carrying the ejector 50 connected. This is slidably supported on the support rods 54.

Die Ausnehmung 59 im Bereich der Ausschubstation 32 ermöglicht den freien Durchtritt des Ausstossers 50 bzw. des Schenkels 53.The outer ring wall 33 and the turret side walls 44 and 45 of the drying turret 18 are interrupted in the area of the extension station 32 and in the area of the loading station 31 or provided with recesses 59 and 60. The recess 59 in the region of the extension station 32 enables the ejector 50 or the leg 53 to pass freely.

The further structure of the drying turret 18 in the present embodiment results primarily from FIGS. 6 and 7. The turret side walls 44 and 45 form a closed housing with the ring wall 33.

The drive for the drying turret 18 is also accommodated in this. A main gear 62 is driven via a gear transmission 61 and is mounted on a fixed central axis 63. With the main wheel 62 rotating and therefore connected to it, the support disc 34, on the outer circumference of which the pockets 22 are attached. The cam disk 41 is also arranged on the support disk 34 as a laterally protruding ring. The cam plate 29 assigned to the pockets 22 or the movable side wall 25 thereof is connected to the axis 63. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the cam disc 29 is identical to the retaining disc 38, the outer circumference of this retaining disc 38 also forms the cam disc 29. The retaining disc is provided with an opening 64 through which the leg 39 of the pocket stop 35 together with the roller 40 passes, in order to rest to get on the cam 41.

In the present exemplary embodiment, the capacities of the drying turrets 14 and 18 are designed such that the packs are accommodated in each drying turret for about 15 seconds each. The total drying time of 30 seconds is sufficient to obtain stable packs. The second drying turret 18 - like the first drying turret 14 - can be heated in a suitable manner.
