Abstract

A device for suspending a bundle of horizontal tubes in a vertical plane (1), the device comprising pairs (4, 5, 6) of vertical tubes (7, 8) provided with half-fins on their facing sides. The half-fins have a profile including notches of circular shape, having a radius slightly larger than the radius of the tubes in the bundle and being at the same spacing as said tubes, the notches being separated by tongues (16, 18, 20, 17, 19, 21) which project from the vertical tubes by a distance which is long enough to provide good support for the tubes of the bundle and which is short enough to ensure good thermal conduction from their projecting ends to their weld zones on the corresponding vertical tubes.

Description

The present invention relates to a heat exchanger with a bundle of horizontal tubes in a vertical plane, comprising pairs of vertical tubes provided with half-fins on their sides which face each other, these half-fins having a profile comprising notches of circular shape, and being of spacing equal to that of the tubes, in particular for boilers of superheated steam generator. It also extends to a method of manufacturing this device.

A heat exchanger of this type has been proposed, comprising a fin pierced with holes of diameter slightly greater than that of the tubes to be supported, at a pitch equal to that of the tubes of the bundle. Each vertical tube thus comprises a half-fin, integral with that of the other vertical tube by bridges arranged between the successive horizontal tubes of the bundle, but the middle part of these bridges, in contact with the horizontal tubes at high temperature, and relatively distant from the two vertical tubes, is poorly cooled by conduction. The bridges formed between the vertical tubes oxidize or corrode quickly, due to their high temperature in often corrosive gases. Furthermore, this device is only applicable to heat exchangers with a single loop, without which the tubes could not be threaded individually in the holes of the fin.

It has also been proposed to weld saddles between the horizontal tubes of the bundle and vertical carrier tubes. These are at a sufficiently short distance from the vertical tubes to be well cooled by conduction, but the bundle tubes are rigidly linked to them, which causes significant stresses due to thermal expansion or vibration, which can cause cracks in the welds. .

It has also been proposed to weld plates between two adjacent parallel vertical tubes. But these dishes are too large, and we fall back into the difficulty mentioned above about the fin pierced with holes. Their middle part, poorly cooled by conduction, is subjected to an excessive temperature, which can lead to its destruction by oxidation or corrosion.

Document US-A-3,267,913 has proposed a suspension device comprising pairs of vertical tubes provided with half-fins comprising circular notches for housing horizontal tubes separated by non-indented zones. The horizontal tubes are welded into the notches and come into contact with the vertical tubes. The connection between horizontal tubes and vertical tubes and therefore rigid, which results in significant stresses due to thermal expansion or vibration already mentioned above.

Document FR-A-2 336 621 describes a support for horizontal tubes for a heat exchanger in which the tubes are arranged in notches of horizontal spacers with a radius of curvature greater than theirs, and locked between these spacers using bolted rods and nuts. Such a tube support rigidly fixes them, and reveals significant stresses during thermal expansion and contraction.

The object of the present invention is to provide an exchanger which does not have a poorly cooled zone, and is therefore less exposed to corrosion, and which does not rigidly fix the tubes of the heat exchange bundle, so as to avoid cracking of the welds. under the effect of thermal stresses or vibrations.

The heat exchanger according to the invention is characterized in that the radius of the notches is slightly greater than that of the tubes of the bundle, in that the notches are separated by tabs of width between 25 and 40% of the width separating the two vertical tubes from a pair, in that the horizontal tubes are arranged in the notches with a little play, and in that the adjacent vertical tubes have from place to place pinches where they are brought together one of the other and welded to a horizontal spacer.

The method of manufacturing the exchanger of the invention is characterized in that several superimposed junction fins are welded between groups of parallel vertical tubes, reserving between two fins an empty zone of lesser height, in that the '' each fin is drilled with holes slightly larger in diameter than the tubes of the bundle to be supported, then in that the zones of the fin are cut between the holes parallel to the axis of the vertical tubes so as to eliminate a middle portion of between 20 and 50% of the initial width of the fin, in that one introduces the horizontal tubes into the notches of the half-fins formed with a little play, in that one clamps vertical tubes to bring them closer to each other in empty areas of lesser height, and in that they are welded to a horizontal spacer.

It is described below, by way of example and with reference to the figures of the accompanying drawing, a heat exchanger with a bundle of horizontal tubes forming a superheater or reheater of a steam generator.
  • Figure 1 shows the bundle of tubes in elevation.
  • 2 shows a sectional view along III-II of Figure 1, partially showing a couple of vertical suspension tubes.
  • Figure 3 shows on a larger scale the detail III of Figure 2, comprising a bundle tube, the notch in which it is engaged and the tongue which supports it.

In FIG. 1, the superheater bundle 1 is placed between vertical cooled screens 2 and 3. It is suspended from the pairs of vertical tubes 4, 5, 6, the latter being fixed at the top of the boiler in a manner not shown.

In FIG. 2, the vertical suspension tubes 7 and 8 are provided with half-fins in the zones 9 and 10 separated by the zone 11 or they are pinched one towards the other and welded to a horizontal spacer 12. The bundle tubes such as 13, 14, 15 are disposed in notches of half fins welded to the vertical tubes, separated by tabs 16, 18, 20 on the side of the tube 7 and 17, 19, 21 on the side of the tube 8. These notches have a radius of curvature slightly greater than that of the tubes 13, 14, 15, so that these can be introduced therein with a little play, but have a good contact surface with the half-fins welded to the vertical tubes. Furthermore, the tongues 16, 18, 20, 17, 19, 21 do not have their internal edge too far from the corresponding vertical tube, so that they are well cooled by conduction from this tube.

Figure 3 shows on a larger scale the detail 111 of Figure 2. The tongues 16, 18, 17, 19 have a width 1 between 25 and 40% of the width L separating the two vertical tubes.

The profile of the half fins welded to the vertical tubes is obtained by a cutting means which provides a regular profile, without sharp edges.

The invention applies firstly to superheater and reheater bundles of boilers subjected to corrosive combustion gases; it would also apply to horizontal bundles of tubes in contact with corrosive gases at high temperature, for example in the chemical industry.
