1. 2. A bracket according to Claim 1, characterised in that the carrier has a bolt (32) consisting of a plate (33) placed against the outer face of at least one of the arms of the carrier and having at its base a C-shaped hole (34) open to the front so that its lower arm (35) may engage under the rail (30), which bolt is pivoted with its upper part about an axle (26).

A bracket according to Claim 2, characterised in that the bolt (32) comprises two plates (33) each placed against the outer face of one of the arms and joined together by a crossbeam (36) arranged in such a way that, when the bolt holds the rail, the crossbeam (36) rests on the floor (15) and prevents it from being raised.
4. A bracket according to Claim 2 or 3, characterised in that, in relation to the vertical plane containing the centre of gravity (37) of the bolt (32), the axis (26) of the bolt is moved out of line towards the back of the carrier in such a way that, because of gravity, the carrier automatically tends to be placed in the bolted position.
5. A bracket according to any one of Claims 2 to 4, characterised in that the axis of the bolt consists of a pin (26) crossing the perforation (27) which is provided in arms (21, 22) of the carrier for immobilising the vertical bar (25, 48) and the stop member (20) and the rod (19) anchored in the wall.
6. A bracket according to any one of Claims 2 to 5, characterised in that the lower edge (38) is attached to the tip (39) of the lower arm (35) of the bolt (32) by a wide chamfer (40) forming a ramp which automatically detaches the bolt (32) when it rests on the rail (30).
7. A bracket according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that :
- on the one hand, the front end (23) of the upper crossbeam (12) of the bracket is open, and
- on the other hand, the carrier (17) has, in the hypothetical extension towards the front of the inner section of the upper crossbeam, a clearance (41) at least large enough to leave the said hypothetical extension free towards the front of the inner section of the upper crossbeam.
8. A safety device characterised in that it comprises at least one bracket according to any one of Claims 1 to 7.
