Abstract

The method and device for wrapping substantially flat shape articles in the food industry, particularly chocolate slabs or sticks, with a wrapping sheet, should provide for a tubular wrapping, particularly to introduce flat articles such as chocolate slabs or sticks (1). A high efficiency of the machine, without any particular requirement as to the wrapping sheet (5), and an economical utilization of the wrapping material are achieved owing to the transport of the sheet by an intermittent connection of the sheet (5) and the driver (3).

Description

The invention relates to a method for wrapping substantially flat pieces of goods in the luxury or food industry, in particular chocolate bars or bars with a packaging film, and at the same time shows a device that carries out the method. So far, so-called tube machines of the aforementioned type have been used for packaging all types of packaging goods, as are described, for example, in US Pat. No. 3,283,470. In these, the packaging film runs in the form of a film web from a supply roll, on which the parts to be wrapped, successively spaced apart, are fed by drivers which are seated on a transport member moving in the same sense as the film web, whereupon the film around the respective parts was put around and welded between the parts at their transverse edges. A device which is basically the same is also explained in DE-OS 2 034 748. There is only the difference that the consecutive pieces of goods are separated by means of a special folding unit, which considerably increases the mechanical outlay and makes the entire system more susceptible to faults. In both cases, the plastic films used must be particularly strong and supple because they have to be pulled over a wide variety of molds during processing. In order to achieve the required tightness of the packing, it was necessary to work with wide rollovers. The consequence of this is a large consumption of expensive packaging material and a relatively low machine performance. Particularly thin and heat-sealable aluminum foil as a wrapping material could hardly be used here. However, metal foils of this type are particularly predestined for the packaging of confectionery pieces, in particular chocolate bars or bars.

The object of the invention is, however, to remedy these deficiencies and to provide a method and a device which allow a hose packaging to be carried out, in particular for the internal wrapping of flat articles, such as chocolate bars or bars, with a high machine output without any particular stress on the respective packaging film and economical consumption of packaging material can be achieved.

Above all, packaging is to be produced in which a longitudinal sealing seam is required on the narrow side and foils, in particular thin and heat-sealable metal foils are used, which cannot be processed over the usual shape shoulders of the usual tube machines, with a particularly high tightness of the sealing seams being guaranteed.

This is achieved according to the invention in that the transport of the film webs is brought about by a temporarily direct connection of the film web and drivers. Preferably, the film web is temporarily jammed for the purpose of its transport with the drivers that advance to the enveloping parts. The packaging film web, in particular aluminum film, is formed lengthwise according to the invention into a casing material tube which is U-shaped in cross section, open on one side and accommodating the parts to be wrapped. This is grasped by conveyor belts rotating at approximately the same speed and taken along by at least one of the two legs of the U-shaped film tube enclosing the goods and the intervening drivers clamped between the drivers and acting on the conveyor belts and moving with them and taken along.

With particular advantage, the packaging film, in particular an aluminum film, is withdrawn from the supply at the same time as the article is handed over and bent flat around the row of articles in a U-shape.

A device for carrying out this method is characterized in that the inlet of the goods to be wrapped and the inflow of the film web is followed by a tube former which, from the film web running off the supply roll, has a cross-sectionally U-shaped film tube which extends around the goods and is open on the side forms, the transport member, running next to the film tube, is provided with drivers which extend from the side into the tube opening and at least on one side of the film tube a pressure device running along with the speed of the drivers is provided, which on one side of the tube profile pushes the driver.

It is particularly advantageous for the tube builder to work together with a pair of conveyor belts, which have a U-shaped film tube on both sides, a moving pressure device being provided on both sides of the film tube, which, under spring force, presses the conveyor belt strand against the film tube between the legs of the cross-sectionally U-shaped film tube, also moving driver presses. The film tube is conveyed in a U-shape lying flat, the pair of conveyor belts being formed from a carrier belt for the film tube and a support band lying on the top of the film tube. Both the driver transport and the conveyor belt pair are expediently driven in order to ensure good conveyance of the free-running conveyor belt or the film tube formed therefrom.

Finally, behind the hose builder Tools for sealing or welding the laterally projecting film edges and for folding them over, as well as a cross-sealing station and a separating device for dividing the individual packages wrapped in the aluminum foil and sealed on all sides from the tube are provided.

The idea of the invention allows a wide variety of design options. A device which carries out the method according to the invention is described below and shown in the accompanying drawing, namely
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 are schematic representations to explain the problem according to the invention,
  • 3a to 3c show a schematic illustration of the side view of an apparatus which carries out the method according to the invention, the sequence of FIGS. 3a-3c forming a single illustration, which is referred to below as FIG. 3 and
  • Figure 4 to 9 sections along the lines AB to MN through Fig.3.

The pieces of goods to be packaged, in particular confectionery items, such as chocolate bars, chocolate bars or the like 1, are supplied on a belt 2 coming from the manufacturing device. Of course, all other, preferably flat, articles from the food industry or cigar or cigarette industry or the like can also be packaged in the same way.

The transport of the goods 1 on the feed belt 2 is supported by drivers 3, which are arranged one behind the other on an inevitably driven, operating at the same speed transport member in the distance adapted to the size of the goods. The transport member 3 a for the drivers runs next to the conveyor belt, the drivers 3 being held on the transport member 3 so as to be laterally displaceable in holders 3 b. In any case, the laterally displaceable drivers extend over the entire width of the article 1 and run next to the conveyor belt 2 at the same speed as this.

The packaging film, in the present case a heat-sealable aluminum film 5, is pulled off the supply roll 4 with the aid of a conveyor device to be described later. The film strip is laid flat in a U-shaped manner as it enters a tube former around the articles 1 arriving one behind the other on the feed belt 2, without special molding units being necessary.

The carriers 1 keep the articles 1 at a distance from one another which is required for the subsequent closing process. The article 1 and the packaging film 5 are moved at the same speed and drawn into the formed film tube, which is U-shaped in cross section, as can be seen from FIG. 5. Now the film tube 5 with the articles 1 enclosed therein is inserted between a pair of conveyor belts 6, 7 which rotates in the direction of the arrow and is formed from the lower carrier belt 6 and the support belt 7 resting on the top of the film tube 5.

For the belt guide in the inlet guide rollers 21 are provided, of which the upper roller 21, which cooperates with the support belt 7, is acted upon by springs 21a,

As can be clearly seen from FIGS. 6 and 7, the drivers 3 extend into the U-cross section of the hose 5, whereby they capture the workpiece 1 to be conveyed in its full width.

The film tube is transported synchronously with the drivers 3 with the aid of a pressure device 8, 9, 10, 11 and 22, respectively. The mode of operation of such a device can be clearly seen from FIGS. 1 and 2. In these two representations, however, only one of the pressure devices is shown, which is on the top, i.e. H. with the support band 7, cooperates. The pressure device arranged on the lower side and cooperating with the carrier tape 6 is designed in the same way. In any case, the pressure devices consist of a conveyor in the form of a chain or belt 22, which is equipped with pressure rollers 8 and 9, respectively. A pressure rail 10, which is acted upon by springs 11, is provided in the interior of the conveying member 22. The pressure rollers 8 run along the pressure rail 10 and are at the same distance from each other as the drivers 3. When running along the pressure rail 10, the pressure rollers 8 and 9 are pressed accordingly firmly on the drivers 3, the strand of the film tube 5 resting against it Band 7 and 6 together with the respective side of the film tube 5 is pressed onto the driver and clamped with it, so that the inevitably moved driver 3 can take the film tube and the parts forming the pressure device with it. The packaging film is only slightly stressed by the surface clamping just described when peeling off, which allows the processing of the thinnest films.

On the other hand, the overlap of the film edge over the goods 1 can also be kept as small as is currently required for the subsequent closing process. This ensures a minimal consumption of film material.

The edges of the film tube extending beyond the articles are now welded or sealed together by heating rollers. The heating rollers 12, 14 and 13 are pivoted away and can be completely removed from the area of the heat-sensitive articles, if necessary, so that there is no radiation on the articles. As can be seen, pairs of rollers are provided in each case, with the pair of heating rollers 12 being followed by cooling roller pairs 13 and 14 for sealing, which permit an optimally sealed seam with the most economical use of material.

Of course, both the heating rollers and the cooling rollers are connected to known heating or cooling devices, which need not be described further here.

During the closing process, the film tube 5 with the articles 1 inserted into the division is guided exactly between the support band 6 and the support band 7. The longitudinal seal seam is created as required on the lower or upper side using appropriate folding switches. Here too, the film tube 5 with the articles 1 is carried by the guide bands 6 and 7. Of course, the drivers 3 which convey the articles and the film tube were previously pulled out of the still unsealed film tube to the side, as was indicated in FIG. 4.

The articles 1 lying exactly spaced in the film tube 5 finally run to the transverse sealing station 15, 16, the circumferential sealing tools 15, 16 compressing the film tube 5 and sealing them under the action of heat. Immediately afterwards, the pack flow runs in between cooling jaws 17, 18, which grip the film tube 5 in the region of the transverse sealing seams and press it together during the passage. Only then, in a manner known per se, is the separation of the articles individually sealed on all sides in the film material from the packing stream.

The method described here and the device operating according to the method can be used for all types of goods packaging, in particular, of course, for those goods which are sensitive to temperature and must therefore be packed.

This applies in particular to the packaging of food, luxury goods, in particular chocolate and confectionery, but also to tobacco products and other goods not belonging to food and luxury goods.
