Abstract

Claims (7)

1. A process for the formation of a film of liquid on a board, especially a film of glue and hardener on a preferably elongate board (2) intended for the production of wooden load-bearing structures, by casting at least one liquid by means of at least one dispensing vessel (6) which is arranged above the board and transverse to the direction of travel of the latter, and which tapers in width towards the board, the film of liquid being as wide as, or wider than, the board, the board (2) being preferably passed beneath the dispensing vessel (6), the liquid being supplied from the dispensing vessel (6) in the form of a falling curtain, wherein the longitudinal walls (7, 7') of the dispensing vessel (6) are of sieve-like construction, so that the liquid, after passing therethrough, forms a coherent film on the outside of the sieve or perforated plate and a falling curtain as it runs off at the lowest point.
2. A process for the formation of a film of glue and hardener as claimed in claim 1, wherein the glue and hardener are cast separately from one another, the excess glue and the hardener being recycled to stock vessels (1) by means of pumps (5).
3. A process for the formation of a film of glue and hardener as claimed in claim 1, wherein a glue/hardener mixture is cast.
4. An apparatus for carrying out the process as claimed in claim 1, comprising stock vessels (1) for one or more liquids, especially for glue. and hardener, dispensing vessels arranged above the board (2) and connected by lines to the respective stock vessels, collecting vessels (3) arranged below the board, and, if desired, two connecting lines (4), one for recycling the glue and one for recycling the hardener, and a pump (5) located in each connecting line, at least one of the dispensing vessels being in the form of a trough-shaped dispensing vessel (6) which tapers in width towards the board, wherein its longitudinal walls (7, 7') are of sieve-like construction and form a run-off edge (8) at their lowest point.
5. An apparatus as claimed in claim 4, wherein the dispensing vessel (6) has the shape of a triangular prism, the two inclined longitudinal walls (7, 7') constituting the sieve or perforated plate and the line of intersection of these walls forming the run-off edge (8), while the upper closed side of the dispensing vessel is provided with a feed connection (11).
6. An apparatus as claimed in claims 4 and 5, wherein there are provided, at both ends of the run-off edge, downward-pointing, rigid or flexible rods (9, 9') which have a conventional mode of action and guide and stabilize the glue and hardener film at its edges.
7. An apparatus as claimed in claims 4 and 5, wherein there are provided, at both ends of the run-off edge, special outlet orifices (10, 10') in the form of holes or slots whose size can be adjusted and from which more glue and hardener issues per unit time than from the smaller sieve meshes or perforated plate orifices, thereby forming two glue and hardener strands which bound the glue and hardener film and guide and stabilize it at its edges.
