Definitions
- the invention relates to a hand-held labeling device for printing and attaching self-adhesive labels to objects, with a printing unit, which is held by a printing unit carrier, from a rest position in which it holds the printing unit off a self-adhesive label located on a printing table, into a working position , in which he holds the printing unit in contact with the self-adhesive label, is pivotable, and a drive device for pivoting the printing unit carrier from the rest position into the working position and for automatically returning the printing unit carrier to the rest position under the influence of a restoring force.
- Such a device is known from DE-OS 27 22 302.
- two springs are attached, which must first be touched by the printing unit on its way to the printing table and then deformed so that the printing unit can finally strike the self-adhesive label to be printed. Due to the violent impact and the elastic design of the printing types attached to the printing unit and the printing table surface, the printing unit tends to lift off the printing table after the first impact and then strikes again. This could lead to undesirable double prints, which are to be prevented in the known device by providing the two springs, which ensure that the printing unit is also held securely in the lifted state after the first lifting and does not strike again against the self-adhesive label.
- the springs used in the known device have the disadvantage that they absorb part of the energy with which the printing unit is moved against the self-adhesive label to be printed. If these springs are too strong, they absorb too much energy, so that only a weak print is produced on the self-adhesive label, while if they are too weak, their force is insufficient, a double or even multiple impact of the printing unit on the Prevent self-adhesive label. The dimensioning of these springs is therefore extremely critical.
- the invention is based on the object of designing a hand-held labeling device of the type described at the outset such that, with simple means which do not require close tolerance and which leaves the movement of the printing unit against the label to be printed almost completely unaffected, the formation of double prints on those to be printed Labels are prevented with certainty.
- this object is achieved by a locking device which holds the printing unit support in the working position with a locking force which is less than the restoring force.
- the locking device provided in the device according to the invention ensures that the printing unit is held in contact with the label after impact on the self-adhesive label and cannot lift off again due to the elasticity of the printing types and the printing table. As a result, there can be no undesirable double printing on the self-adhesive label, which can seriously impair the printed image produced and can even make the printing illegible, especially if a machine reading is intended.
- the printing unit only lifts off the printed self-adhesive label again when the drive device returns the printing unit carrier to the rest position under the influence of the restoring force. Since the locking force is smaller than the restoring force, the locking device does not hinder this return movement.
- the hand-held labeling device shown in FIG. 1 contains a housing 1 with a handle 2.
- An operating lever 3, which is rotatably mounted about an axis 4, can be pulled against the force of a spring 5 in the direction of the handle 2 until it is in contact with one Stop 6 in handle 2 comes. So that the spring 5 is secured against lateral breaking out when compressed, a two-part, telescopically displaceable rod 7 is mounted in it, which is spread between the operating lever 3 and a nose 8 in the handle 2.
- a shaft 9 for receiving a supply roll 10 of a carrier tape 12 carrying self-adhesive labels 11 on one side.
- the carrier tape 12 runs from the supply roll 10 downwards in the device to a deflection roller 13 and then to a printing table 14, whose front end on the left in FIG. 1 forms a dispensing edge 15, at which the self-adhesive labels are detached by a sharp deflection of the carrier tape 12 and reach a dispensing position below a pressure roller 16.
- 1 shows a self-adhesive label 17 in the dispensing position.
- a printing unit support 20 is also rotatably mounted about the axis 4 in the device, the front end of which is on the left in FIG. 1 Has side legs, between which a printing unit 21 is attached. In the side view of FIG. 1, only one side leg 22 of the printing unit carrier 20 can be seen.
- the printing unit carrier 20 is held in the position shown in FIG. 1 by means of a pawl 24 which can be pivoted about an axis 23.
- the pawl 24 has a projection 25, which is held by means of a spring 26 supported on one side in the housing 1 in a force-fitting manner against a nose 27 on the printing unit support 20.
- an arm 28 is attached, which comes into contact with the pawl 24 when the operating lever 3 is tightened against the handle 2 and which pivots counterclockwise so far against the action of the spring 26 in the illustration of FIG. 1 that the Engagement between the projection 25 and the nose 27 is released.
- a compression spring 30 is located between the arm 28 and a contact surface 29 on the printing unit support 20.
- a rocker arm 32 which can be pivoted about an axis 31 and which carries a paint roller 33 at its lower end.
- this ink roller 33 rolls on the printing types 34 attached to the printing unit 21, so that these are inked before each printing operation.
- FIG. 1 Another component of the device shown in FIG. 1 is a transport device 35, with the aid of which the carrier tape 12 can be transported by a length corresponding to the length of a self-adhesive label 11 during each operating cycle of the device.
- This transport device 35 is moved by two pivot levers 37 which can be rotated about an axis 36, only one of which can be seen in FIG. 1.
- the pivoting levers 37 are controlled with the aid of pins 38 on the printing unit support 20, which engage in scenes 39 in the pivoting levers 37.
- the transport device 35 is designed such that it can be moved from left to right along the carrier tape 12 in the view of FIG. 1, whereby it is not in engagement with the carrier tape, while it moves with the carrier tape when moving in the opposite direction 12 comes into engagement and takes it along by a piece corresponding to the label length.
- a chamber 44, 45 surrounded by projecting webs 42, 43 is attached.
- a leaf spring 46, 47 which is bent in a special manner and whose shape can best be seen in the sectional view of FIG. 4.
- the width of the chambers 44, 45 corresponds approximately to the width of the leaf springs 46, 47
- Fig. 4 shows that the length of the chambers essentially corresponds to the length of the leaf springs.
- an intermediate web 48, 49 is attached in each of the chambers 44, 45, with which an angular section 50, 51 of the leaf springs is in contact, which is essentially at right angles to their general longitudinal extent.
- the leaf springs 46 and 47 each have two sections 52, 53 and 54, 55 running in their longitudinal direction, the ends of which are turned away from each other and are angled toward the other side.
- the mutually facing ends of the longitudinal sections are connected to one another by a bulge, which also includes the angular sections 50, 51 already mentioned.
- the leaf springs 46, 47 are mounted in such a way that the transition points between the angular sections 50, 51 and the longitudinal sections 52, 54 are particularly supported on the intermediate webs 48, 49.
- the operating lever 3 is pulled against the handle 2.
- the force of the spring 5 must be overcome. Due to the movement of the operating lever 3 about the axis 4, the arm 28 also moves against the contact surface 29 on the printing unit support 20, so that the spring 30 attached between them is compressed. Shortly before the operating lever 3 reaches the stop 6 in the handle 2, the arm 28 comes into engagement with the pawl 24 so that it pivots about the axis 23 against the action of the spring 26.
- This pivoting of the pawl 24 has the result that the engagement between the projection 25 on the pawl and the nose 27 on the printing unit carrier 20 is released, so that the latter can rotate about its axis 4. Since the spring 30 is strongly compressed at the time the printing unit carrier 20 is released, the printing unit carrier 20 is rotated very quickly about the axis 4, with the result that the printing unit 21 is moved against the printing table 14 at high speed. During the downward movement of the printing unit 21 from the position of FIG. 1 into the position of FIG. 2, the ink roller 33 rolls on the printing types 34 on the front side of the printing unit 21, so that these printing types are inked and when they hit Make a legible print on the self-adhesive label.
- the pins 38 move in the scenes 39 of the swivel levers 37, so that they move the transport device 35 from the position of FIG. 1 along the carrier belt in the direction of the printing table 14.
- the Operating lever 3 returns to the rest position shown in FIG. 1 under the action of spring 5. He also lifts the printing unit carrier 20 back into the position of FIG. 1.
- the transport device 35 is also moved back into the starting position of FIG. 1 by the swivel levers 37, but during this movement it takes the carrier tape with it and thus pulls it around the dispensing edge 15.
- the self-adhesive label 11 just printed detaches from the carrier tape 12 and reaches the position of the label 17 shown in FIG. 1. In this position, the self-adhesive label 17 is ready to be attached to an article of goods. The actual attachment takes place in that the pressure roller 16 is unrolled on the article.
- the bending points 58, 59 at the transition from the bulges of the springs to the longitudinal sections 53 and 55 are bent out of the chambers 44, 45 during this tilting movement, so that they engage behind projections 60, 61, which on the outward-facing side surfaces of the Side legs 22 and 22a are attached.
- the springs 46, 47 Since the springs 46, 47 only come into contact with the side legs 22, 22a of the printing unit support 20 directly before the time at which the printing types 34 reach the self-adhesive label 11 to be printed, the energy transferred from the spring 30 to the printing unit support becomes almost complete used for the printing process without being reduced by frictional forces between the springs 46,47 and the side legs 22, 22a. Due to the special shape of the springs 46, 47, which can be seen in FIGS. 4 and 5, the lifting movement of the printing unit carrier 20 which begins after the printing process by releasing the operating lever 3 is not so badly affected that the spring 5, which is necessary for the lifting movement Provides strength, should be strengthened. Nevertheless, the force of the springs 46, 47 is sufficient to hold the print types 34 securely in contact with the label after the self-adhesive label 11 has stopped.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a hand-held labeling device for printing and attaching self-adhesive labels to objects, with a printing unit, which is held by a printing unit carrier, from a rest position in which it holds the printing unit off a self-adhesive label located on a printing table, into a working position , in which he holds the printing unit in contact with the self-adhesive label, is pivotable, and a drive device for pivoting the printing unit carrier from the rest position into the working position and for automatically returning the printing unit carrier to the rest position under the influence of a restoring force.
Such a device is known from DE-OS 27 22 302. In this known device to prevent double imprints on the self-adhesive label on both sides of the printing table, two springs are attached, which must first be touched by the printing unit on its way to the printing table and then deformed so that the printing unit can finally strike the self-adhesive label to be printed. The springs used in the known device have the disadvantage that they absorb part of the energy with which the printing unit is moved against the self-adhesive label to be printed.
The invention is based on the object of designing a hand-held labeling device of the type described at the outset such that, with simple means which do not require close tolerance and which leaves the movement of the printing unit against the label to be printed almost completely unaffected, the formation of double prints on those to be printed Labels are prevented with certainty.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by a locking device which holds the printing unit support in the working position with a locking force which is less than the restoring force.
The locking device provided in the device according to the invention ensures that the printing unit is held in contact with the label after impact on the self-adhesive label and cannot lift off again due to the elasticity of the printing types and the printing table. As a result, there can be no undesirable double printing on the self-adhesive label, which can seriously impair the printed image produced and can even make the printing illegible, especially if a machine reading is intended. The printing unit only lifts off the printed self-adhesive label again when the drive device returns the printing unit carrier to the rest position under the influence of the restoring force. Since the locking force is smaller than the restoring force, the locking device does not hinder this return movement.

The hand-held labeling device shown in FIG. 1 contains a housing 1 with a
At the top of the housing 1 there is a
At the front of the device there is a
Another component of the device shown in FIG. 1 is a
In the inner surfaces of the
The
The operation of the device described with regard to its construction and in particular the purpose of the
To initiate an actuation cycle, the operating lever 3 is pulled against the
This pivoting of the
During the downward movement of the
When the
