Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a strip of impregnated and compressed foam wound into a roll with delayed recovery, preferably for sealing purposes.
The cell walls of the open-cell foam structure are lined with chlorinated paraffin in an impregnation process. The foam strip, which is wound in the compressed state, gradually returns in the unwound state. Such strips can therefore be used advantageously for closing joints. The restoring force brings a particularly adaptable system to the joint walls. The restoring effect lasts over longest periods of use (plastics under construction, 15th year (1980), H. 2, pp 66-68). Although the lining with chlorinated paraffin in particular already provides a certain degree of tightness against moisture penetration, the sealing effect is not always sufficient.
The object of the invention is to remedy the situation in that a satisfactory seal is achieved despite the use of an open-cell material which is favorable for the impregnation and which may have a large-pore foam structure.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the broad side of the roll is provided with a liquid-impermeable layer which sticks to the side flanks of the strip and which has an extensibility corresponding to the extent of the provision and which can be torn along a spiral line corresponding to the strip winding joint is.
As a result of such a configuration, despite the use of foam with a large pore structure, an effective joint seal is achieved by the laid strips. The layer forms an effective moisture shield. For example, in the area of the joint walls, i.e. moisture that creeps sideways, is largely blocked by the moisture-repellent properties of the chlorinated paraffin-soaked cell walls that are already present. In addition, the partially compressed strip does not fully open the pores. Some even remain closed. This creates a kind of labyrinth. Since the layer expediently faces the joint depth, the other side of the strip facing the open air can also dry out well. The layer applied in the form of a film, skin, film or the like is the wound strip, i.e. assigned to the broadside of the role. The corresponding layer has an elasticity which corresponds to the extent of the resetting of the foam structure. The layer also acts as a delay factor. On the other hand, it is anchored to the strip side flanks in such a way that when a strip is unwound from the roll it tears along a spiral line corresponding to the strip winding joint. This can be achieved through a predetermined breaking zone. The layer can also be prepared using chemical agents, for example in the sense of greater fragility in the area of the winding joint.

The
Der Schaumstoff ist imprägniert. Hierzu lässt sich bspw. Chlorparaffin verwenden. The foam is impregnated. For example, chlorinated paraffin can be used for this. The
The cut, still flat strip section is inserted into the

The line L which defines the tear-off path to a certain extent can be realized by a predetermined breaking zone. This can be easily achieved insofar as the narrow end edge 6 'of the protective strip, stabilized by the curvature of the roll, can be used as an abutment for an attached stamp which slightly melts the layer in its thickness.
