Description

The present invention relates to a sealing device in the form of a strip, advantageously made in a single piece of plastic material, making it possible to seal the space between two parts intended to join, one of the parts pivoting, for example, around the other. This device can be used, in particular, as a caulking strip for doors and windows.

There are many sealing devices for doors and windows using one or more flexible blades, whether or not lined with a compressible and elastic material, such as, for example, synthetic foam. Such caulking strips are, in their most practical execution, self-adhesive. However, they tend to come off partially, and to lift, or even to tear off, under the effect of repeated pulls that cause the opening and closing of the leaf. These bands also have the defect of being either too expensive or fragile, or else to wear out too quickly due to too great rigidity.

Such a device is for example described in patent AT 342 267. It is composed of a first blade (I), flexible, and a second blade ( l o). These two blades are substantially planar and integral with one another along an edge of the first blade. The second blade is intended to be fixed by gluing, for example, to the dormant frame of a door. The first blade then occupying a separated position, comes to bear against the door leaf when it is closed and thus ensures the desired seal.

The free edges of the first and second blades are in this embodiment very thin, which makes them fragile and liable to curl in the longitudinal direction. This deformation of the blades has the effect of reducing the seal provided by the first blade and making it more difficult to bond the second blade.

  • - une première lame flexible ayant deux bords;
  • - une deuxième lame ayant deux bords, la première et la deuxième lames sont solidaires l'une de l'autre en formant un angle aigu, un bord de la première lame étant fixé sur un bord de la deuxième lame suivant une ligne de jonction;
  • - une troisième lame ayant deux bords, solidaire par un bord des première et deuxième lames le long de la ligne de jonction;
To avoid these drawbacks, the sealing strip as described in the claim comprises inter alia:
  • - a first flexible blade having two edges;
  • - A second blade having two edges, the first and the second blades are integral with one another by forming an acute angle, an edge of the first blade being fixed on an edge of the second blade along a junction line;
  • - A third blade having two edges, secured by an edge of the first and second blades along the junction line;
  • - A groove made in the first strip in the vicinity of the junction line so as to thin the section of the first strip in this location; and
  • - A groove made in the third blade in the vicinity of the junction line so as to thin the section of the third blade in this place, is mainly remarkable in that the free edge of the first blade has a bead of rounded shape and that the free edge of the second blade ends in a rim directed towards the first blade.

An advantage of the sealing strip according to the present invention is that it makes it possible to improve the sealing and to reduce the risk of detachment of the strip by making the free edges of the first and second blades more rigid.

Other characteristics and advantages of end vention will appear during the following description of an exemplary embodiment, with reference to the accompanying drawing. On this drawing:
  • Fig. 1 shows in cross section an embodiment of the sealing strip at rest according to the invention.
  • Fig. 2 shows, also in cross section, the sealing strip of FIG. 1, fixed to a door or window leaf, in its maximum compression position.
  • Fig. 3 shows the sealing strip, in the same embodiment as that of FIG 2, but in which the third blade is folded due to the thinness of the leaf on which the strip is fixed.

The sealing strip according to the invention comprises, as shown in FIG. 1, a first blade 1, flexible and secured by one of its edges to a second blade 2. The second blade is capable of being fixed, and preferably glued, to the frame or to the leaves of the door or window. The flexible blade 1 moves away from the edge of the leaf or of the dormant frame on which the second blade 2 is fixed and its free edge 7, opposite to the joint 4 connecting the two blades, comes to bear when closing the door or window, against the standing frame or against the leaf, depending on whether the flexible blade is attached to it or to that. A third blade 3 is fixed to the joint 4 of the other two, extending the point of the V formed by the first two blades. This third blade greatly increases the surface area by which the strip adheres to the wing or the standing frame. The point of the V is thus securely fixed and the risk of tearing reduced to a great extent.

The blades 2 and 3 of the sealing strip are fixed with a layer of adhesive 8 to the leaf 5. It can be seen that the frame frame 6 of the door then presses on a bead 12 of the blade 1 which moves and is applied to the blade 2. The pressure exerted by the frame 6 on the bead 12 provides the desired seal. A groove 10 thins the strip at the joint of the blades 1 and 2 and allows easy flexing of the blade 1.

3. Une rainure 11 permet un pliage facile de la lame 3 autour de la lame 2.If the thickness of the leaf 5 is reduced, the third blade 3 can be folded and glued to an adjacent face of the leaf, as shown in FIG. 3. A groove 11 allows a easy folding of blade 3 around blade 2.
