Description

The invention relates to a curling iron according to the preamble of patent claim 1. Such curling irons are described in the unpublished documents EP-A-0 021 136 and EP-A-0 032114, which according to Art. 54 (3) and (4) EPC are taken into account.

Heatable hairdressing devices are already known, which are equipped with combs or brushes (US-A-1 052 097, US-A-2474106) and are used for shaping and combing hair on the head. These hairdressing devices have the disadvantage that they cannot replace hair curlers or curling irons and are ultimately only suitable for refreshing a hairstyle.

It has already been proposed to equip a curling iron with hairdressing additives in the form of attachable narrow brushes or combs (DE-A-2 607 857). This known hairdressing device has the disadvantage, on the one hand, that it is difficult to catch a strand of hair which is to be wound onto the curling iron, and, on the other hand, the hair lies against the heating rod in an unfavorable manner.

Finally, a hand-held device for heating hair curlers is known from US Pat. No. 3,365,811. This device contains a heating resistor in one hand for heating an air flow, which in turn emits its heat to a hair roller attached to the end of the handle and the hair wound thereon. To make it easier to wind up the hair, the curler is covered with strips of a fibrous textile material.

The present invention has for its object to provide a simply constructed and easy-to-use curling iron, which enables its user to be able to carry out all the work required for grooming, laying and shaping the hair.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the curling iron has the features mentioned in the characterizing part of patent claim 1, that is to say that its push-on winding body has both long, coarse projections and short, fine projections arranged between them, the coarse projections relating to the fine projections exceed their length and strength many times over. In use, the above-mentioned coarse projections act like the prongs of a comb, while the fine projections smooth the hair like a brush. In addition, the fine projections hold a strand of hair gripped by them so firmly that it can be screwed onto the winding body without difficulty.

In a preferred embodiment, the coarse projections of the winding body are designed as star-shaped, radially serrated disk-shaped ring bodies arranged transversely to the longitudinal axis of the winding body, the inside diameter of which corresponds to the outside diameter of the heating element and which are connected to one another by longitudinal webs. This formation of the winding body is not only particularly economical to implement in terms of production technology, but it also has the effect that the curling iron according to the invention, equipped with such a winding body, can be used equally well for combing and brushing as well as for winding a curl in any rotational position.

The short, fine projections of the winding body are preferably arranged on the outside of the longitudinal webs connecting the star-like ring bodies, as a result of which a strand of hair divided into a plurality of tracks by the coarse projections is automatically gripped by the fine projections. Furthermore, it has proven to be advantageous to design the mentioned longitudinal webs of the winding body with an approximately circular cross-sectional profile; because in this way an almost constant transition from the outer surface of the longitudinal webs to the intermediate surface parts of the heating element is achieved, and consequently kinking of the hair twisted onto the winding former on the longitudinal edges of the longitudinal webs is avoided.

Der Lockenstab gemäß Fig. 1 besteht im wesentlichen aus dem zylindrischen Heizstab 1 mit Heizpatrone 2 und dem die Heizpatrone einhüllenden Isolierschlauch 3 ; einer Verdampfeinrichtung 4 mit Betätigungsknopf 5, Wasserbehälter 6, Schwammkörper 7 und Spritzdüse 8 ; einem Griffteil 9 mit Zuleitungskabei 10, Drehkupplung 11 und schließlich einer am Griffteil 9 kippbar gelagerten Taste 12 mit Rückholfeder 13 und der Spange 21 zum Halten der Haarsträhne am Heizstab 1.1 essentially consists of the cylindrical heating rod 1 with heating cartridge 2 and the insulating tube 3 enveloping the heating cartridge; an evaporator 4 with actuating button 5, water tank 6, sponge body 7 and spray nozzle 8; a handle part 9 with feed cable 10, rotary coupling 11 and finally a button 12 which is tiltably mounted on the handle part 9 with return spring 13 and the clasp 21 for holding the strand of hair on the heating element 1.

The winding body according to FIG. 2 can be pushed onto the heating element 1, the outside being Knife d of the heating element 1 corresponds approximately to the inside width D (FIG. 5) of the winding body.

The winding body has three longitudinal webs 14, 15, 16, which are connected to one another via the annular ends 17, 18. Each individual web 14, 15, 16 is covered with a large number of fine projections 19, 20 which extend outward in a brush-like manner. Furthermore, said longitudinal webs 14, 15, 16 carry and connect the star-shaped serrated disk-shaped ring bodies 22a, 22b, each of which has teeth 23 that extend radially in the manner of a comb. The annular end 18 is equipped with resilient holding members 24, 25 which engage with their hook-like ends in openings 26 on the collar 27 of the handle part 9, as shown in FIG. 8.

For use, the winding body is pushed onto the heating element 1 of the curling iron until the resilient holding members 24, 25 snap into the openings 26 on the collar 27 of the handle part 9. The winding body can now be screwed into the head hair with the aid of the handle part, the hair resting firmly on the heating element 1 in the open areas 28 between the longitudinal webs, which are not covered by the webs 14, 15, 16. Since the heating element 1 has the temperature required for shaping the hair, the coiled hair is directly exposed to this temperature, the narrow parts of the hair covered by the webs 14, 15, 16 not coming into direct contact with the heating element 1, but nevertheless are exposed to similar temperature conditions. The wound strand of hair can now also be exposed to the water vapor that can be generated via the evaporator device 4. In order to permanently curl the hair, it can then remain on the winding body and cool. For this purpose, the hot curling iron can be pulled out of the winding body, for which purpose only the locking members 24, 25 are pressed together so that their hook-like ends slide out of the recesses 26 on the collar 27 and release the winding body.

As already mentioned, a particular advantage of the subject matter of the invention is that the winding body pushed onto the heating element 1 can be used not only as a hair curler but also as a comb or brush for hair care, the disk-shaped ring body 22 with its coarse prong-like projections 23 Function of a comb and the fine bristle-like projections 19, 20, 21 perform the function of a brush, largely regardless of the rotational position in which the bobbin is placed on the hair.
