Definitions

  • the invention relates to a high-voltage circuit breaker with a fixed and an axially displaceable contact with at least one nozzle, through which pressurized gas flows from an extinguishing space into an expansion space when switched off, and with a coil surrounding the fixed contact, one end of which contacts the fixed one Contact and the other end of which is connected to an axially offset ring contact with respect to the fixed contact, at least one radially outward outflow channel being provided between the fixed contact and the ring contact, which connects a commutation space delimited by the fixed contact and the ring contact to a relief space.
  • Such a switch is known for example from DE-AI-2 741 022.
  • This switch an arc burning between the fixed and the moving contact is drawn when switching off.
  • This arc heats up the pressurized gas in the commutation chamber, which supports the commutation of the base point of the arc at the fixed contact on the ring contact by forming a compressed gas flow directed from the commutation chamber to the relief chamber if the movable contact is at a sufficient distance from the fixed contact.
  • the magnetic field of the coil through which the breaking current now flows causes the arc to rotate.
  • the rotation of the arc has the advantage that the formation of metal vapors and contact erosion is largely avoided, which ensures a high dielectric strength in the switching path.
  • the metal vapors and the contact erosion reduce the electrical strength of the switching path, since the relatively small relief space can only absorb a fraction of the quenching gas heated in the commutation space.
  • the metal vapors remaining in the commutation chamber and the contact erosion not only reduce the dielectric strength, but also make the commutation of the arc base point from the fixed contact to the ring contact more difficult.
  • the switch according to the invention is characterized in that the metal vapor and contact erosion particles located during a switching process between the fixed and the movable contact are reliably removed from the switching path even in the case of comparatively large currents to be switched off and reach a relief chamber which is closed and cooled with respect to the switching path, on the specially designed walls they can be deposited as solid bodies.
  • the dielectric properties of the compressed gas used for arc quenching are considerably improved.
  • safe commutation of the switching arc from the fixed contact to the ring contact can also be achieved when switching comparatively large currents, since a pressure gas flow running radially outward from the fixed contact to the ring contact occurs during the entire switching phase.
  • a housing filled with insulating compressed gas, such as SF 6 , and sealed at the end with a power connection 20.
  • insulating compressed gas such as SF 6
  • Inside the housing 10 there is a fixed contact 21 and a movable contact 31.
  • the fixed contact 21 is hollow and has a permanent current contact 22 and an erosion contact 23 designed as a finger.
  • an insulating pin 24 is provided, through which the fixed the gas volume trapped in contact 21 is reduced.
  • a coil 40 which surrounds the fixed contact 21 in a cylindrical manner, is connected at one end to the fixed contact 21 and at its other end via a web 51 to an annular contact 50 which is axially offset with respect to the fixed contact 21.
  • a commutation space 71 delimited by the fixed contact 21, the insulating material pin 24, the ring contact 50 and the nozzle-shaped erosion contact 32 is connected via an outflow channel 85 designed as an annular gap to a relief space 80 enclosed by walls 84, which has two chambers connected to one another via a check valve 82 81.83.
  • the heated quenching gas can only escape through the outflow channel 85 designed as an annular gap.
  • the extinguishing gas removes combustion residues and metal vapors, which are caused by the arc 90 burning between the combustion contacts 23 and 32.
  • the walls 84 of the relief chamber 80 preferably contain a porous, sintered or provided with cooling fins, which results in good cooling of the extinguishing gas and the combustion residues and the metal vapors are absorbed in a particularly effective manner.
  • the first chamber 81 of the relief chamber 80 can no longer accommodate the heated extinguishing gas. It is therefore advisable to connect the first chamber 81 to the second chamber 83 via the check valve 82, as a result of which excess quenching gas can be discharged when the check valve 82 responds above a predetermined pressure value.
  • the arc 90 begins to rotate very quickly under the influence of the magnetic field of the coil 40 (cf. FIG. 2a).
  • the extinguishing gas is heated to an even greater extent, but due to the rotation of the arc, the formation of combustion residues and metal vapors is largely avoided.
  • the heated extinguishing gas is discharged through the discharge channel 85 and thereby removes any burn-up and metal residues that are still present.
  • the quenching gas is released by the rotating arc 92 in the quenching chamber 70 heated to the extinguishing pressure and removed via the nozzle opening of the erosion contact 32 into the expansion space 60.
  • the arc 92 is blown intensively, driven into the nozzle opening of the erosion contact 32 of the movable contact 31 and extinguished.
  • the movement of the movable contact 31 comes to a standstill after the arc 92 has extinguished in the position AS shown in FIG. 1, left half, (switch-off position).
  • the insulating material pin 24 closing the nozzle-shaped opening of the erosion contact 32 of the movable contact 31 in the initial phase of the switching-off process can be designed as a follower pin.
  • the isolating pin standing in the switched-on position under the action of an energy accumulator, such as a spring 24 continues to move the movable contact 31 until the arc is commutated onto the ring contact 50 (dashed position in FIG. 2b).
  • the insulating material pin 24 can be provided with a bore (also shown in dashed lines in FIG. 2b), so that after commutation of the arc on the ring contact 50 and after this bore has been released by the movable contact 31, the arc 92 is double-blown.
