Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an offset printing unit for printing on rotating bodies, in particular small rotating bodies such as contact plugs or ampoule necks, with color code rings, the color being applied to a common application roller by means of rotating disks.
  • An offset printing unit according to the preamble of claim 1 is already known from FR-A-1 566 908.
  • the invention has for its object to provide an offset printing unit that allows clean, sharply delimited color code rings to be applied even to very small rotary bodies. It has been found that the difficulties mentioned arise from the fact that when the ink is transferred from the ink chambers to the application roller, the rotating disks are not wiped clean enough. It has further been found that the reason for this deficiency is that if the disks and the ink chambers are rigidly arranged, it is impossible for the disks to lie against the axial boundary walls of a gap through which the disks enter the ink chambers with sufficient play.
  • each disk (2) rests without play on the axial boundary walls of a slot connected to the associated ink chamber and protrudes into the ink chamber (13), and that each disk (2) is arranged loosely pivotably and rotatably with a drive shaft (7, 8) is coupled.
  • each disc can be guided without jamming and yet practically without play between the side boundary walls, which cleanly wipe off the dye carried along by the disc, which is a prerequisite for printing appropriately clean color rings on the rotating bodies.
  • the system shown in FIG. 1 has a schematically illustrated printing unit with an application roller 1.
  • the ink is transferred to the applicator roller 1 in the manner described later by means of schematically represented disks 2 at axially offset locations.
  • a conveyor wheel 3 is located laterally below the application roller 1, which can accommodate rotary bodies R and hold them rotatably.
  • the rotating bodies are fed from a conveyor and orientation device, not shown, through a channel 4 and placed individually on the conveyor wheel 3, which is progressively advanced in a clockwise direction.
  • Each rotary body then arrives in a printing position in the area of the application roller 1.
  • the printed rotary bodies finally reach a conveyor belt 5 from the outlet end of the conveying wheel 3 located at the bottom and are fed there to an oven 6 for drying or baking the ink.
  • the disc 2 to 4 show a coloring device with a rotatable disc 2.
  • the disc 2 sits with a play of, for example, 1 to 3 hundredths of a millimeter on the tapered end 7 of a drive shaft 8, which is mounted in a housing part 9.
  • the shaft 8 is detachably coupled to a further part 8 'of the drive shaft.
  • a driver pin 10 is inserted into a bore of the drive shaft 8 and engages in a recess 11 of the disk 2 with some play.
  • the disc 2 is thus loosely seated on the drive shaft 8 in such a way that it does not necessarily have to be exactly at right angles to the axis of the shaft 8, but it is carried along with the rotating drive shaft 8.
  • the disc 2 engages through a slot between the housing part 9 and a housing part 12 into a paint chamber 13, which is continuously supplied with paint from a paint reservoir 14.
  • the housing parts 9 and 12 form axial boundaries 14 and 15, between which the disc 2 engages in the ink chamber 13 with virtually no play.
  • Orientation pins 16 are screwed to the housing part 9 and are used to mount the inking device on the machine frame according to FIG. 1.
  • a knife-like scraper 17 projects into the color space 13 from one side which scraper according to FIG. 4 can be finely adjusted by means of a screw 18, the flange 19 of which engages in a gap 20 of the scraper 17.
  • the applicator roller 1 rotates counterclockwise, while the disks 2 are driven clockwise.
  • the part of the edge of the pane located in the ink chamber 13 picks up paint, which, when it emerges from the ink chamber, is wiped clean on the circumferential surface of the disc 2 by the scraper 17 and on the end faces by the tightly fitting boundaries 14 and 15 or their inner end edges .
  • the disc 2 can, if necessary, be slightly crooked with respect to the axis of the drive shaft 8 in order to reach between the limits 14 and 15 without jamming and practically absolutely free of play.
  • FIG. 5 shows schematically the disks 2 arranged along the circumference of the application roller 1, each of which applies a color track to the application roller 1.
  • a rotating body for example a contact pin 22, is in contact with the application roller 1 and the desired color code rings 23 are applied.
  • the required movable suspension of the discs 2 could also be achieved differently. It would be possible, for example, to arrange these disks firmly on a drive shaft, which is easily pivoted. In addition to the code colors, other characters such as seals can of course also be printed on.
  • the thread at the opening of the ink reservoir 14 can be dimensioned such that ink tubes can be screwed on directly.
