An apparatus for gripping, lifting, transporting and putting down the drums of mechanically charged and mechanically emptied centrifuges for the deoiling, dewatering, washing, drying or processing of industrial bulk goods, with a traveling hoist able to be moved between at least two stations, said traveling hoist supporting a means that is lifted and lowered and has an end that may be moved out and has a gripping means for gripping such centrifuge drum at its top edge, characterized in that in a frame (10) joined with the traveling hoist (5) there are two opposite gripping jaws (11 and 12) that may be moved radially in relation to the drum (8) and are designed for partly gripping round it, said jaws being supported turningly in the frame (10) for motion about a level shaft (16), at least one (12) of the gripping jaws having a turning drive (14).
2. The apparatus as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that at least one gripping ring (15), placed rounde the drum (8), is fixed to the centrifuge drum (8) and the gripping jaws (11 and 12) have a groove (17) to take up the gripping ring (15).
3. The apparatus as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the gripping ring (15) is placed in the lower part of the centrifuge drum (8) generally at the same level as the center of gravity of a filled up drum.
4. The apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the gripping jaws (11 and 12) may be moved radially backwards and forwards by way of pneumatic cylinder actuators (13).

The apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the lifting and lowering means (6) has a lifting carriage (25) running on pairs of rollers (26) placed on either side thereof in upright U-like rails (27) and it may be lifted and lowered by way of articulated chains (28 and 29) that are placed on either side and driven in step.
6. The apparatus as claimed in claim 5, characterized in that the lower ends of the upright U-like rails (27) are joined up firmly with the frame (10) by way of level sections (31) placed round the take-up and turning space for the drum (8).
