Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a means of transport and storage for three bottles of wine or similar drinks, consisting of a box comprising in one of its longitudinal faces three openings and a wedging device of molded material contained in the box, the means of storage and transport being transformable into an apartment cellar. It relates more particularly to the device for wedging the bottles which is placed inside and which allows this transformation.
  • Transport and storage packaging are known which can be transformed into bottle displays, such as those that can be encountered in the displays of perfumeries, etc.
  • these packages generally made of cardboard, cannot be directly used to transport 75 cl bottles whose weight is significant.
  • there are known means of transport and storage for three bottles such as that described in patent DE-A-2 124 509, which have the advantage of being able to keep the bottles horizontal, but, for obvious aesthetic reasons, can not be installed directly in dining rooms or even kitchens, that is to say where we should however have at least a few bottles of wine lying and chambered.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a means of transport and storage of bottles which constitutes a transport and storage package, while allowing transformation into an apartment locker or cellar.
  • such a storage and transport means for three bottles aligned side by side in which the wedging device is removable, has three integral cradles aligned side by side, and comprises transversely a line of least resistance allowing to separate it into two parts, one of which, which has a length equal to the internal width of the box, can be placed in the box in a perpendicular position called cellar position so that the remaining parts of the cradles support the bottles passed through the openings of said lateral face of the box, the bottle necks then protruding outside the box.
  • the parts of the cradles being, in the transport or storage position, under the necks are surmounted by blocks in which grooves for wedging said necks are provided.
  • the wedging device comprises, at its two ends, transverse to the direction of the cradles, bands limiting the longitudinal movement of the bottles.
  • the strip adjacent to the blocks comprising grooves for the necks, is provided with projecting parts, opposite each groove, the edges of the necks and the plugs resting on said projecting parts when the boxes are in vertical position , the neck facing down.
  • the strip provided with protruding parts has on the other side notches of the same shape as the protruding parts, allowing the stacking of the vacuum setting devices.
  • the width of said grooves is slightly less than the diameter of the necks, the material of the wedging device being plastic.
  • the diameter of the cylindrical cradles is slightly greater than that of the bottles.
  • the internal partitions of the wedging device are higher than the lateral edges of the latter.
  • the box which can be seen in fig. 1 the side walls 1, and the ends 3, 4, has the shape of a flat rectangular parallelepiped capable of containing three bottles lying next to each other.
  • the bottles 5, 6 and 7 are wedged by a wedging device 8 which is shown alone in FIG. 2.
  • the device 8 is formed by three semi-cylindrical cradles 9, 10 and 11 which are adjacent and aligned longitudinally, and by two bottom strips 12 and 13 arranged transversely at the ends of the cradles.
  • the cylindrical surfaces defining the upper surfaces of the cradles 9, 10 and 11 have their axes 14, 15 and 16 in the same horizontal plane.
  • the partitions 17 and 18 between the cradles 11 and 10, on the one hand, and 10 and 9, on the other hand, are in the same horizontal plane 14-15-16.
  • the upper edges of the strips 12 and 13 are also at the plane 14-15-16, except, as will be seen below, for the parts of the bottom 13 respectively aligned with the axes 14, 15 and 16.
  • the lower surfaces 19, 20 and 21 of the walls of the cradles 9, 10 and 11 are of a diameter such that their lowest points are at the bases of the bands 12 and 13, that is to say that they rest on the bottom of the box when the wedging device is placed in it.
  • the height of a wedging device that is to say the distance between the bases of 12 and 13, on the one hand, and the plane 14-15-16 is of the order of 55 mm
  • the distances between the axes 14 and 15 or between 15 and 16 are of the order of 88.5 mm
  • the thickness of the walls of the cradles 9, 10 and 11 is of the order of 13.5 mm. It follows that the diameters of the upper surfaces of the cradles is of the order of 83 mm and that of the lower surfaces of the order of 110 mm.
  • the outer edges 22 and 23 of the cradles 9 and 11 are less tall than the upper edges of the partitions 17 and 18, for example of the order of 40 mm. Indeed, the side bottles 5 and 7 have their external side generators directly wedged respectively by the side walls 1 and 2 of the box.
  • the thickness of the upper edges of the walls 17 and 18 is of the order of 5.5 mm, which perfectly isolates the bottles in their respective cradles. As an indication, the total width of the wedging device is of the order of 260 mm.
  • the thicknesses of the bottom strips 12 and 13 are both of the order of 20 mm. As an indication, the total length of a wedging device is of the order of 343 mm.
  • the walls of the cradles 9, 10 and 11 are modified to form support blocks for the necks of the bottles 24, 25 and 26 .
  • Blocks 24, 25 and 26 are identical. They have the general appearance of a parallelepiped emerging from the bottom of the cradle, the upper face having a groove in which the neck of the corresponding bottle is housed. Thus, the grooves 27, 28 and 29 correspond respectively to blocks 24, 25 and 26.
  • the vertical planes of symmetry of the grooves pass respectively through the centers 14, 15 and 16.
  • the upper edges of blocks 24 to 26 are at the edges upper 12, 13, 17 and 18.
  • the blocks 24 to 26 are attached to the internal face of the strip 13.
  • the dimensions of each block are, in the longitudinal direction of the cradles, of the order of 35 mm and, in the transverse direction, of the order of 55 mm.
  • the grooves 27, 28 and 29 have, in vertical section, as shown in FIG.
  • the spacing of the grooves is chosen to be less than the smallest diameter of the bottle that one is likely to encounter, the plasticity of the material constituting the wedging device making it possible to absorb the differences in diameter of the necks.
  • the dimension of this spacing is, in the embodiment described, of the order of 31 mm.
  • the upper edge of the strip 13 has protruding parts 31, 32 and 33 in the form of a short half-cylinder whose thickness is that of the strip 13 and the diameter equal to the spacing of the edges of the grooves.
  • the projecting parts 31 to 33 have their vertical planes of symmetry passing respectively through the centers 14 and 16. In practice, these parts 31 to 33 serve as a stop when the boxes are oriented vertically, the edges of the necks and the caps 34 of the bottles. then resting on the adjacent surfaces from 31 to 33. It is certain that, in this vertical position, the stops 31 to 33 constituting good foundations for the bottles which is important when it is known that the bottles should preferably be transported in this position to avoid even partial drying of the caps.
  • recessed portions 35 to 37 also in a semicircle and of the same diameter with the necessary clearance. These recesses allow the wedging devices to be stacked on top of each other before using them in boxes, the parts 31 to 33 of the device below being embedded in the recesses 35 to 37 of the device above.
  • the assembly of a wedging device can be made by molding polyurethane foam, or another suitable moldable material. Note that, to avoid using too much material for the blocks 24 to 26, cavities opening downwards can be provided in the latter.
  • a slot 40 At a distance from the external face of the strip 12 equal to the distance between the external faces of the walls 38 and 39, that is to say equal to the distance between the internal faces of the walls 1 and 2 of the box, is provided in the wedging device a slot 40, the bottom of which looks like the line 41, FIG. 4.
  • This slot 40 constitutes a zone of low resistance which makes it possible to separate, by breaking it, the wedging device into two parts, that which supports the body of the bottles and comprises the band 12 and that which supports the necks and comprises the band 13 and the blocks 24 to 26, the slot 40 in the form of three successive semicircles is obtained directly from molding.
  • circular openings 42 to 44 are provided.
  • the box In fig. 1, the box is shown full in the transport or storage position at a dealer. In fig. 8, the box is shown in the cellar position for a consumer. To move from one position to another, the consumer who has bought a box, opens the latter by removing the sliding cover 45, removes the bottles 5 to 7 from the wedging device 8, then removes the device 8 from the case for break it in two parts along the breaking line created by the slot 40, then replace in the box the part of 8 comprising the strip 12 after having turned this part by 90 ° so that the strip 12 is applied to the wall 1 of the box and positioning it so that the cradles 9, 10 and 11 are practically opposite the openings 42, 43 and 44 of the wall 2, and, finally, it replaces the bottles in their cradles by passing their bottoms through these openings.
  • the diameters of the openings 42 to 44 are slightly greater than the diameters of the cradles 9 to 11 so that when the bottles pass, they are not subjected to forces liable to deteriorate the dressings of the bottles (labels). However, their diameter is limited so as to leave between them a sufficient gap to ensure the solidity of the side wall 2.
  • the box is made of pine wood.
  • the cover 45 is preferably reinforced by two crosspieces 46, each about 50 mm wide and 10 mm thick, the ends of the crosspieces coming to bear on the upper edges of the walls 1 and 2, as shown in fig. 4. These crosspieces 46 making it possible to stack the boxes on top of each other without the covers being deformed or deteriorated.
