Definitions
- the present invention relates generally to storage tanks for a liquid at low temperature, such as liquefied natural gas, and relates more particularly to a method of constructing such a tank, this tank being of the type comprising an internal steel tank and an external shell of prestressed concrete, separated from the tank by a relatively narrow space filled with thermal insulation.
- French Patent No. 1,552,891 relates to a storage tank for a liquid at low temperature, such as a liquefied gas, comprising an internal tank and an outer shell or tank, separated from said tank by a space of relatively small width and completely filled with thermal insulation comprising a set of blocks stacked in insulating material.
- the heat-insulating structure must be able to compensate for the dimensional tolerances of manufacturing the concrete shell, that is to say the variations in dimension of the space between the internal tank and the external shell. concrete.
- this space can have a width of the order of 800 mm with tolerances of ⁇ 20 mm. It is therefore understood that the mounting of the thermal insulation structure in this space poses technical problems given the relatively small width of the space between the internal tank and the external concrete envelope, taking into account the fact that the thermal insulation mounting must after mounting the internal tank in the external envelope. Such problems arise, for example, in the case of a tank such as that described in French patent n ° 1552891.
- the object of the present invention is to remedy these difficulties and to fulfill the abovementioned safety conditions, by proposing a new method for constructing a storage tank which is simple and entirely satisfactory.
- the subject of the invention is a method of constructing a storage tank for a liquid at low temperature, such as liquefied natural gas, comprising an internal steel tank and an external concrete shell or tank, separated from said tank by a space of relatively small width and completely filled with thermal insulation comprising a set of blocks stacked in insulating material, characterized in that it consists in first building the external tank and mounting the internal tank therein, then in said space between said internal tank and said external tank, to have on the internal wall of said external tank a continuous thin coating forming a first sealing barrier, and to have between said internal tank and said first coating, a second thin coating continuous in cryogenic material forming a second sealing barrier; then to fill said space by means of said rigid blocks, each block having a rectangular parallelepiped shape formed by two half-blocks of complementary shapes supported one on the other in an inclined plane, the stacking of said blocks being done by horizontal slices or by vertical strips, and the composite structure formed of said blocks and of said second thin coating being carried by the concrete tank.
- the invention also relates to the tanks obtained by carrying out this method.
- FIG. 1 a tank 1 for the storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at low temperature according to the invention.
- the tank essentially consists of an internal steel tank 2 surrounded by an outer rigid shell or tank 3 comprising a concrete floor 4 resting on a foundation 5, a prestressed concrete skirt 6 and a concrete vault or dome 7 to which is suspended by cables 8, a ceiling 9 comprising beams 10 on which rests a layer of thermal insulation 11 constituted by blocks of glass wool.
- LNG liquefied natural gas
- this space can have a width of the order of 800 mm with tolerances of ⁇ 20 mm.
- a first continuous thin coating 21 made of cryogenic material forming a first sealing barrier is bonded to the vertical internal walls 22 of the prestressed concrete tank 3.
- This coating 21 may for example consist of a material called "triplex which consists of a layer of aluminum interposed between two layers of glass fabric.
- a second continuous thin coating 24 of cryogenic material forming a second sealing barrier.
- This covering 24 may consist of strips or panels of material called "triplex”.
- These “triplex” strips forming the second sealing barrier 24 can either be suspended vertically by their upper end from a fastener provided at the top of the concrete tank 3, or initially placed along the vertical walls 23 of the tank by magnetization, for example by means of small blocks of magnetic elastomer secured to the »triplex « strips. Then, these strips are sealed.
- each block 25 has a rectangular parallelepiped shape formed by two half-blocks 26 and 27 of complementary shapes supported one on the other along an inclined plane 28 so as to be able to slide slightly over one another to compensate for the dimensional tolerances of the space between the internal tank 2 and the external concrete tank 3.
- each block 25 of a vertical strip (for example the strip 29) being placed vertically on the lower block from the bottom of the space between the internal tank 2 and the external concrete tank 3, and the two half-blocks 26 and 27 being arranged in a complementary manner at the same level, one (26) on the side of the tank 2, the other (27) on the side of the concrete tank 3 so as to be able to slide one over the other in a vertical plane and radially with respect to the tank 2
- Flexible or compressible seals 30, for example made of glass wool are placed between the two superimposed half-blocks 26 (and 27) of the same vertical strip (for example strip 29b), flexible seals 31 (FIG. 3) by polyurethane example are provided between two adjacent vertical strips 29a, and 29b, 29 and 29c, ..., and a flexible joint 32 for example e made of polyurethane is provided between the half-blocks
- FIGS. 2 and 3 a covering formed from vertical polyurethane panels 33 with step-shaped joints is provided between the blocks 25 and the second sealing barrier 24. More precisely, these panels 33 are only glued to the second sealing barrier 24 and they are interconnected by two flat seals 34, for example made of glass wool. There is shown at 35 a particularly shaped block of polystyrene foam placed in the lower part of the insulation structure.
- the thermal insulation structure disposed between the floor 4 of the concrete tank 3 and the bottom 36 of the tank 2 comprises a first continuous thin coating 41 forming a first sealing barrier bonded to the floor 4 of the concrete tank 3, and the second continuous thin coating 24 in "triplex" forming the second sealing barrier covered with a protective film 42 for example based on epoxy.
- This second coating 24 is therefore disposed continuously on the vertical walls of the tank 2 and on panels 43 of insulating material such as glass foam, a flexible seal 44 being interposed between these panels 43 and the first barrier d sealing 41.
- a layer of sand 46 or another suitable material is interposed between the bottom 36 of the tank 2 and the protective film 42 of the second sealing barrier (or upper sealing barrier) 24.
- Flexible or compressible joints 50 for example in glass wool are placed between the two consecutive half-blocks 26 and 27 of the same horizontal level (for example the level 49c), and a flexible joint 51 for example of polyurethane is placed between each horizontal level 49a, 49b, 49c, 49d ... at the level of the half-blocks 27 and the first sealing barrier 21.
- pins 60 extending perpendicularly to this wall, and panels 61 of insulating material such as glass wool are mounted on these pins 60 by means of tubular sleeves 62 supporting these panels 61.
- the pins 60 include a thread 63 and the sleeves 62 also include a thread 64 with a diameter greater than that of the thread 63, so that when the sleeves 62 are inserted into the pins 60, the two threads 63 and 64 are for example filled with glue, ensuring thus excellent adhesion of the sleeves 62 to the pins 60.
- the glass wool panels 61 are retained by means of a trellis of wire 65.
- Panels 70a, 70b, ... (FIGS. 7 and 8) for example in plywood, have on their periphery notches alternated from one panel to another and produced at the sleeves 62, each panel comprising for example six notches.
- FIG 8 there is shown the panel 70a with, on its upper edge two notches 71a and 71b, and there is shown the panel 70b with, on its lower edge two notches 72a and 72b reversed relative to the notches 71 a and 71 b of panel 70a, and its four other notches 72c, 72d, 72e and 72f.
- the strips or the panels intended to form the second sealing barrier are fixed by gluing and they are sealed. This watertight seal was materialized at 76.
- the thermal insulation structure only comprises a stack of blocks 25 interposed between the two sealing barriers 21 and 24.
- the covering formed from the polyurethane panels 33 is fixed, by gluing, to the first sealing barrier 21, along the vertical walls 22 of the external concrete tank 3.
- the panels 33 are interconnected by two flat seals 34, for example made of glass wool.
- the second sealing barrier 24 is then fixed, by gluing, to these polyurethane panels 33, then the stack of blocks 25 is mounted between the second sealing barrier 24 and the vertical walls 23 of the tank to form the structure. insulation. More precisely, these blocks 25 are fixed, by gluing, to the second sealing barrier 24, and they are simply in contact with the vertical walls 23 of the tank.
- each block 25 has a rectangular parallelepiped shape formed by two half-blocks 26 and 27 of complementary shapes supported one on the other according to an inclined plane 28 so as to be able to slide slightly over one another to compensate for the dimensional tolerances of the space between the internal tank 2 and the external concrete tank 3.
- a vertical access shaft 80 extending over the entire height of the insulation structure is formed between the external concrete tank 3 and the internal tank 2.
- a rigid frame 81 forming a cage integral with a block of polyurethane foam 25a which is directly in contact with the second sealing barrier 24.
- This rigid reinforcement 81 allows the forces applied to the vertical walls 23 of the internal tank 2 to be transmitted to the concrete tank 3.
- This or these access wells 80 are very useful in order to be able to carry out a repair, for example in the event of a leak in the internal tank 2.
- a repair for example in the event of a leak in the internal tank 2.
- air is blown under the dry internal tank 2, and by appropriate means, the tank is rotated on the air cushion thus formed to position the leak in front of an access well 80. Therefore , the repairer can descend into the well thanks to the scaffolding 81 and then carry out the repair.
Description
- - résister à l'inondation complète du gaz naturel liquéfié (GNL) en cas de fuites;
- - résister aux chocs thermiques;
- - résister aux contraintes extérieures telles que des fissures dans le béton précontraint et une déformation de l'enveloppe en béton;
- La figure 1 est une vue en coupe du réservoir;
- La figure 2 montre à plus grande échelle le détail encerclé en Il de la figure 1 selon un premier mode de réalisation;
- La figure 3 est une vue en coupe suivant la ligne III-III de la figure 2;
- La figure 4 est une vue similaire à la figure 2 d'une paroi verticale seule selon un second mode de réalisation;
- La figure 5 est une vue en coupe suivant la ligne V-V de la figure 4;
- La figure 6 est une vue similaire à la figure 2 d'une paroi verticale seule selon un troisième mode de réalisation;
- La figure 7 montre à plus grande échelle le détail encerclé en VII de la figure 6;
- La figure 8 est une vue selon la flèche VIII de la figure 7, le bloc d'isolation et la seconde barrière d'étanchéité étant enlevés;
