Abstract

Prefabricated elements are used for constructing changes of plane in the walls of a sealed and insulated reservoir to be installed in e.g. a ship's hull. Elements include a non planar thick core made of insulation matl., e.g. a foamed resin, lined with an impermeable cover, e.g. thin metal sheet. The elements fit tangentially to flat or slightly curved panels extending the reservoir walls on either side of the curved elements. Used for making tanks for transfer or storage of e.g. liquefied petroleum gases. Use of prefabricated elements ensures high quality of seal and insulation in those regions often most difficult to reach for lay-up or assembly in situ.
