Abstract

1,206,250. Storing liquefied gases. BRIDGESTONE EKIKA GAS K.K. 5 Dec., 1968 [26 Dec., 1967], No. 57907/68. Heading F4P. A tank for storing liquefied gases comprises a rigid outer vessel 1, against the inner surface of which is a heat insulating layer 2, the inner surface of which is covered by a thin film portion 4 of an inner vessel 3 divided into a number of closed chambers by at least one rigid partitions 5, 6 to which the portions 4 are attached, the portion 4 being pressed against the insulating layer 2 by gas pressure inside the vessel 3. To allow for thermal contraction the partitions 5, 6 may slide in fittings 15 and the portions 4 may be fluted and along the edges, have curves of possibly thickened material. The tank may be used in a ship in which case the outer vessel may comprise in part the ships hull.
