Die Selbstklebemittelschicht kann als sehr schmaler Streifen im mittleren Bereich des Unterlagebandes angeordnet sein, oder als zwei schmale Streifen in Nähe der Ränder des Unterlagebandes, je nachdem, wie die Transportvorrichtung des Etikettiergerätes ausgebildet ist. Da das Unterlageband nur mit geringer Haftkraft am Trägerband haften soll, kann die Selbstklebemittelschicht sehr sparsam aufgetragen werden, das heißt sehr dünn und auf relativ kleine Flächenbereiche des Unterlagebandes.
