Abstract

Согласно настоящему изобретению, предложены смеси масел или жирных кислот, содержащие более 50% среднецепочечных жирных кислот или алкиловых эфиров жирных кислот и имеющие низкие температуры плавления. Такие смеси можно применять в качестве топлива или в качестве исходного материала для производства, например, биодизельного топлива. Также предложены генетически измененные или модифицированные растения, модифицированные таким образом, что количество среднецепочечных жирных кислот, вырабатываемых растением, увеличивается. Дополнительно предложен способ расчета температуры плавления смеси метиловых эфиров жирных кислот и применение такого способа для определения смесей, подходящих для применения в качестве, например, биодизельного топлива.
