U diesen zerstörenden Einfluß auszuschalten, hat man bei Leitungen und Kabeln, welche mit einer Naturgummimischung isoliert werden, den Leiter mit einer Zinnschicht überzogen. An Stelle von Zinn wurde auch eine besondere Umspinnung des Leiters mit Folien verwendet. Eine Zinnschicht kann man nur in Sonderfällen aufbringen, da Zinn äußerst knapp ist.
