Das Verfahren beruht auf der Anwendung solcher Körper, welche Pectin und Lichenin zusammen oder getrennt enthalten. Diese Stoffe sind . namentlich in den Moosen bezw. Moosextracten enthalten. Nach Versuchen mit den verschiedensten Moosarten haben wir als diejenigen, die das beste Resultat geben, das japanische Moos, chinesische Moos und corsicanische Moos erkannt.The procedure is based on the application of such bodies as pectin and lichenin included together or separately. Bei Petroleum haben wir als das richtige Mischungsverhältnifs einen Zusatz von 25 pCt. der Flüssigkeit gefunden. Nach minutenlangem Umrühren verdickt sich das Petroleum bei der Erkaltung. Soll das Petroleum wieder in seinen flüssigen Zustand zurückgeführt werden, genügt es, die dicke oder feste Masse unter Zusatz eines Alkalis zu erhitzen.
