Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
In patent specification 112630 is a method described to make up from the alkaline earth and heavy metal salts previously considered insoluble of the sulphonic acids of ichthyol, petrosulfol and so on are distinguished by their high sulfur content and by their strongly reducing properties.
Behave similarly to the salts of these sulphide-like bound sulfur-containing acids The alkaline earths and metal oxides are also opposed to the acids that carry through Effect of sulfuric acid on sulfur-free mineral oils respectively. Hydrocarbons obtained are like the sulfonic acids of tumenol and resin oils. Also from these sulfonic acids it was previously assumed (see patents 56401 and 65850) that their alkaline earth and heavy metal salts, with the exception of the mercury and antimony salts, in water are insoluble; but a more detailed investigation has shown that here too, as with the sulphonic acids containing sulphide-like bound sulfur, some of the sulphonated Provides products which are soluble in water, alkali metal and heavy metal salts, and these salts and the corresponding acids are strongly reducing substances. Before before They are known sulfonic acids of tumenol and resin oils apart from their solubility their alkaline earth and heavy metal salts are characterized by their higher sulfur content. The rosin oil sulfonic acid obtained from the water-soluble lime salt contains 13 pCt. Sulfur, while the sulfur content is only 6 pCt. in the acid of patent 65830.
The extraction of these previously unknown, water-soluble alkaline earth and heavy metal salts the sulfonic acids containing no sulfide-like bonded sulfur, as well as the free acids, correspond to the process of patent 112630, as the following examples show:
Der Rückstand, das Kalksalz der Harzölsulfosäure,The product of action of 1 kg of fuming sulfuric acid on 1 kg of resin oil is in Poured water and neutralized it with milk of lime, then drained the liquid from the sediment, filtered, the filtrate saturated with carbonic acid and evaporated almost to dryness. the Any remaining liquid is then mixed with about twice the volume of alcohol, After a while the precipitated calcium sulphate is filtered off, the filtrate from the alcohol freed and evaporated to dryness. The residue, the lime salt of rosin oil sulfonic acid,
Calcium.easy to grind to a brownish powder that is easily soluble in water. I2pCt contains the same thing. Sulfur and 7 '/ 2 pCt. Calcium.
To obtain the free acid, the lime salt is in an alcohol-containing solution with the the corresponding amount of sulfuric acid is added to the liquid from the calcium sulphate that has separated out filtered off, the filtrate freed from the spirit and the solution brought to dryness as far as possible. The acid obtained in this way is dark-colored, viscous, very hygroscopic Mass.
The acids and salts obtained according to the above are suitable for solubilization of hydrocarbons, essential oils and other substances in water.
