Description

Process for the production of aqueous materials, particularly suitable for road construction Bituminous Emulsions The invention particularly relates to methods of making bituminous emulsions made of asphalt, bitumen, hard pitch suitable for road construction, Tar or similar substances with the addition of cholesterol or those containing cholesterol Fabrics.

It has already been proposed (see British Patent 233 430), when producing aqueous bituminous emulsions the bitumen cholesterol, if necessary together with oleic or fatty acids to be mixed in. At the same time Presence of cholesterol and oleic or fatty acids will add to the mixture of bitumen and emulsifiers added alkaline substances. In the known method if the bitumen is temporarily mixed with acidic substances, since the alkaline salts are only added afterwards. The after this procedure produced emulsions are not durable, after a short standing the bitumen will settle in lumps.

It is also well known that flawless, long-lasting emulsions can be achieved by adding alkalis to form the emulsion. On the basis of this, the invention consists in the proposal, the mixture of bitumen and cholesterol or substances containing cholesterol in a solution of boric or phosphoric acid Introduce salts. There are types of bitumen that are so much emulsifying in themselves Ingredients, lactones and the like that they contain simply by adding alkalis can be brought to emulsification. A large number of types of bitumen can, however The emulsification with alkalis is not allowed because of the content of emulsifying agents is missing. These two types of bitumen also behave more cholesterol-containing when added Fabrics different. The first group gives after the addition of cholesterol and alkalis already an emulsion, while the second group only after the addition of borax or other Boron or phosphoric acid salts instead of alkalis results in a durable emulsion. The use of boric and phosphoric acid salts thus results in advantages that result from Alkalis cannot be reached.
