Description
Vat dye preparations suitable for textile printing When printing from Textiles with vat dyes using the formaldehyde-sodium sulfoxylate-potash process it is known to be necessary to achieve consistent and optimal print results, to dry the printed goods immediately and to steam them as soon as possible, otherwise a more or less strong drop in color depth occurs. In practice it is for operational reasons, however, it is often not possible to comply with these conditions. Especially in film printing, the printed goods remain in the warm, humid air for a long time exposed to the work area until it is dry. There is partial decomposition the prints inevitable. The individual vat dyes show different things Behavior, the greater number of them, however, will be considerably reduced in yield.
There has therefore always been a need for vat-like prints to be able to stabilize in such a way that the difficulties mentioned above disappear.
It has now been found that condensation products of aldehydes with compounds which contain at least one atomic grouping contain or easily pass into such compounds when they are printed on together with vat dyes and the usual additives, the prints stabilize to such an extent that the failure of the goods is to a large extent independent of the period of time within which they were dried and the time after which they was dampened. As condensation products of aldehydes with compounds that contain at least one atom group may contain, for the purposes of the present process, for. B. the condensation products of formaldehyde with dicyandiamide, dicyandiamidine, guanidine, acetoguanamine, biguanide or melamine can be used.
The textiles printed with preparations of the present invention (e.g. cotton, viscose rayon, acetate rayon, natural silk, synthetic Fibers) can be used before steaming, depending on the moisture content of the room air, Let it lie in the air for several hours to a few days - regardless of whether put them on at a higher temperature in a dryer or at room temperature have been air dried - and still get usable prints. In in many cases, their abundance is not significantly impaired. Will the same dyes but printed without the additives mentioned and the prints in treated in the same way, the dyes in general only become too fixed a fraction.
It has also been shown that in many cases a combination of the Body according to the present invention with those mentioned in patent specification 884,187 Boron and silicon compounds can be used with advantage. The applicable Reduce quantities of the latter, so that a disturbance of the viscosity of the printing inks no longer occurs.
The printed goods sections are divided into two parts, of which one is dried, steamed and finished immediately, the other only afterwards an 8-hour exposure to air under those described in example i Conditions. The achieved with the inventive printing ink b and Green pressure exposed to the air matches the color depth of the sample, which is immediately attenuated whereas the imposed print obtained with printing ink a is only a light, gives faded green.
