Description
Gelatinizing and softening agents It was found that the higher molecular weight nitroparaffins and their derivatives are good gelatinizing and softening agents for cellulose derivatives. The higher molecular weight nitroparaffins, the one or contain more nitro groups, are expedient in a known manner according to the process by action forming the subject of patent 748977 from nitric acid to higher molecular paraffin hydrocarbons with straight or branched chain and at least 8, advantageously at least 12 carbon atoms. In addition to nitroparaffins, there are also nitroparaffins as gelatinizing and softening agents their derivatives, in particular nitroparaffin alcohols and their esters, are well suited. The nitroparaffin alcohols can be caused by the action of aliphatic aldehydes on the Nitroparaffins, for example, according to that forming the subject of patent 925 828 Process obtained and in a known manner by means of mono- or polybasic carboxylic acids or polybasic, inorganic, oxygen-containing acids, such as boric acid or Phosphoric acid, can be converted into the corresponding ester. The new gelatinization and plasticizers have excellent compatibility with the cellulose derivatives and give them excellent elasticity and cold resistance.
The nitro paraffins or their derivatives are also with others Highly polymeric substances well tolerated, so that mixed products can be easily place can, for example from cellulose derivatives and natural resins, natural rubber or protein art masses.
Example 30 parts by weight of nitrocellulose (low viscosity) (2: 1 spray are in 30 parts by weight of butyl acetate (IooO / oig), 5 parts by weight of butanol, 10 Parts by weight of toluene, 10 parts by weight of xylene dissolved and the solution 15 parts by weight Nitroparaffin added. The result is a varnish that is elastic and chemical leaves a very resistant film.
