Abstract
A CELP speech coder or decoder, comprising:an adaptive codebook (223) for generating an adaptive code vector;a random codebook (221,211), for generating a random code vector;a synthesis filter (215) for receiving a random code vector generated from the random codebook (221,211) so as to perform LPC synthesis;means (225) for determining a voiced/unvoiced characteristic of the input speech;a second random codebook for generating random code vectors; andselecting means for selecting one of said random codebook and said second random codebook; characterized in thatsaid random codebook (221, 211) is formed by an excitation vector generator comprising fixed waveform arranging means (182) for arranging one or more fixed waveforms (v1, v2, v3) stored in a fixed waveform storage means (181) in accordance with the positions (P1, P2, P3) and polarities of an input impulse vector, and in thatthe random codebook generates the random code vector in accordance with the determined voiced/unvoiced characteristic,wherein the determination of the voiced/unvoiced characteristic of the input speech is based on a value of a quantized pitch gain, andif the value of the quantized pitch gain is small, by which it is considered that the input speech is unvoiced, said selecting means selects said random codebook.

- Betreffend das
europäische Patent 0 991 054 (DE 697 08 693 ) hat der 6. Senat (Nichtigkeitssenat) des Bundespatentgerichts auf die mündliche Verhandlung vom 5. Dezember 2018
für Recht erkannt: - I. Das
europäische Patent 0 991 054 wird mit Wirkung für das Hoheitsgebiet der Bundesrepublik Deutschland teilweise für nichtig erklärt, soweit es über folgende Fassung hinausgeht:
Claims (10)
- A CELP speech coder or decoder, comprising: an adaptive codebook (223) for generating an adaptive code vector; a random codebook (221,211), for generating a random code vector; a synthesis filter (215) for receiving a random code vector generated from the random codebook (221,211) so as to perform LPC synthesis; means (225) for determining a voiced/unvoiced characteristic of the input speech; a second random codebook for generating random code vectors; and selecting means for selecting one of said random codebook and said second random codebook; characterized in that said random codebook (221, 211) is formed by an excitation vector generator comprising fixed waveform arranging means (182) for arranging one or more fixed waveforms (v1, v2, v3) stored in a fixed waveform storage means (181) in accordance with the positions (P1, P2, P3) and polarities of an input impulse vector, and in that the random codebook generates the random code vector in accordance with the determined voiced/unvoiced characteristic, wherein the determination of the voiced/unvoiced characteristic of the input speech is based on a value of a quantized pitch gain, and if the value of the quantized pitch gain is small, by which it is considered that the input speech is unvoiced, said selecting means selects said random codebook.
- A CELP speech coder/decoder according to claim 1, wherein said fixed waveform arranging means (182) shifts said fixed waveforms read from the fixed waveform storage means (181) according to the positions (P1, P2, P3) and polarities of said pulses of said input impulse vector.
- A CELP speech coder/decoder according to claim 1, wherein said fixed waveform arranging means (182) convolutes said fixed waveforms read from the fixed waveform storage means (181) with said input impulse vector (P1, P2, P3).
- The CELP speech coder/decoder according to one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the excitation vector generator generates a corresponding random code vector by changing said fixed waveforms either to be arranged, shifted or convoluted.
- The CELP speech coder/decoder according to one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the excitation vector generator generates a different random code vector by changing the fixed waveform used for the modification of the vector provided from an algebraic codebook.
- A CELP speech coding or decoding method, comprising the steps of; generating an adaptive code vector; determining a voiced/unvoiced characteristic of the input speech; generating a random code vector in accordance with said determined voiced/unvoiced characteristic by arranging one or more fixed waveforms in accordance with the positions (P1, P2, P3) and polarities of an input impulse vector; wherein one of a random code vector generated by said arranging and a random code vector not modified by said arranging is selected; outputting the random code vector to a synthesis filter to perform LPC synthesis, wherein the determination of the voiced/unvoiced characteristic of the input speech is based on a value of a quantized pitch gain, and if the value of the quantized pitch gain is small, by which it is considered that the input speech is unvoiced, the random code vector generated by the arranging is selected.
- The method according to claim 6, wherein said arranging step shifts said fixed waveforms according to the positions and polarities of said pulses of said input impulse vector.
- The method according to claim 6, wherein said arranging step convolutes said fixed waveforms with said input impulse vector.
- The method according to one of claims 6-8, wherein said random code vector is generated by changing said fixed waveforms either to be arranged, shifted or convoluted.
- The method according to one of claims 6 to 9, wherein said different random code vector is generated by changing the fixed waveform used for the modification of the vector provided from an algebraic codebook.
