Description
Screen covered with fluorescent fabrics for lighting purposes It has been proposed many times that the light emission of one for illumination is poor suitable light source, such as. B. a mercury vapor lamp, a Geissler Tubes or certain noble gas lamps, by means of: one covered with fluorescent fabric Scbirmies to improve and complement. However, the attempts made have not led to practically useful successes. In particular, those showed after this Proposals built devices the disadvantage that the light is according to proportion - short period of use changed unfavorably. This symptom of fatigue was with the known phosphors were observed at an early stage. So you tried Use different, well-composed phosphors, z. B. those, the boron compounds @ included to produce permanently effective fluorescent reflectors. One scored Very bright phosphors, however, did not get through in this way either certain rather low degree of lifespan of the phosphors as this Phosphors have the property under the effect of short-wave primary light to be silly even - d. H. to lose their ability to fluoresce. A possibility for: offers very economical transformation of light for lighting purposes when using umbrellas that iodine with flu, orescent alkaline earth sulfide oxide are occupied. Furthermore, zinc sulfide phosphones have proven to be very particularly suitable and zinc cadmium sulfide phosphors with a suitable emission spectrum. When applied With such substances it is possible to reduce the light of the primary light source almost quantitatively to transform in no light of the desired color composition.
However, an obstacle to technical application is no such thing Arrangement with screens from the mentioned phosphors, the fact that this too When used in thin layers, phosphors lose their ability to fluoresce relatively quickly forfeit.
It has now been found that these fooling around or signs of fatigue in the case of such phosphors, those made from alkaline earth sulfide or oxide, zinc sulfide, zinc cadmium sulfide or a mixture of these, can be attributed to the fact that the chemically change fluorescent coatings of the screens and thereby their ability to excite lose more or less quickly. The chemical change is based on oxidation and hydrolysis processes and is due to the influence of oxygen, water vapor and hydrogenated stoffee, which is due to the cooperation of the heating and irradiation on the fluioneszverenden applied in a thin layer on the screens Act on substances.
The invention relates to a device for improvement and completion the color of a light source that emits visible and ultraviolet rays, by means of such a fluorescent substance (such as alkaline earth sulfide or -osyde, zinc sulfide, zinc cadmium sulfide or a mixture of these compounds are protected from contact with air, occupied screen, in which the above The disadvantages described dw 'are avoided by using the fluorescent substance dehydrated as much as possible during its manufacture and before any influence of Humidity and atmospheric conditions are protected. This makes it possible to achieve a permanent Effectiveness and unchanged durability of the light improvement device after to achieve the invention.
It has already been proposed to use X-ray screens, that is to say screens for light sources whose rays are only in the invisible area, in this way Manufacture that fluorescent substance in pulpy form on a glass plate is painted on and dried by evacuation. On the other hand, it has become known the fluorescent layer of a screen by painting before the influence of To protect atmospheric lilies. A complete avoidance of water content both during manufacture and during use of the umbrella cannot be achieved by these means, but rather by the covering of the fluorescent substances by means of organic lacquers that are still present in them Moisture permanently prevented from escaping.
Instead of such chemical means, the permanent dry keeping of the dehydrated material also thermally using the heat effect, in the operation of the light source, z. B. with electric gas or vapor discharge lamps, arises in the necessary series resistance.
