Description

Preservatives for green fodder Juicy green fodder can be used As is well known, make them durable by adding acids such as formic acid and hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid. For the application of the procedure in large is decisive the price of acid. The cheapest of the acids in question, hydrochloric acid, can only be sent in <glass balloons in the form of a 300% aqueous solution .and therefore entails high freight costs. There are also great dangers in that these balloons are extremely fragile and cause accidents of all kinds, in particular chemical burns and burns can occur. As the place of consumption is often very far from the production point and train station, there is fier transport of acid balloons for the farmer associated with great inconvenience and makes ensiling, which is economically so important for the farmer, extremely difficult Dimensions. The farmer's wish was therefore to concentrate the acids as much as possible To obtain form, such that the same dissolved in water at the point of application provide the desired preservative acid.

It has now been found that such ballast-free, by simple Dissolve in water to make usable preservatives in the chlorides of phosphorus are present. Phosphorus tri, oxy and pentachloride are equally suitable good for this purpose. For example, phosphorus pentachloride breaks down when it dissolves in water in such a way that 1 mole of phosphoric acid and 5 11M1 hydrochloric acid are formed for 1 mole of P Ch, It should be noted that the preservative effect is only due to the number the H-ions is conditional. The effect of 100 kg hydrochloric acid corresponds to 30% about zzo kg of phosphorus pentachloride. Another advantage of the hydrochloric acid-phosphoric acid mixtures there is also the fact that phosphoric acid is a good nutrient for livestock and, insofar as it ends up in the manure through digestion, it can be reused as fertilizer will.

Another advantage of phosphorus chlorides over hydrochloric acid is that that these connections can be conveniently and cheaply stacked while the at the hydrochloric acid because of its large volume and the required tank systems with considerable Cost is ver-1cr @ üpft. This is especially important for you, because hydrochloric acid As a preservative, it is naturally only consumed in the summer months. at the use of phosphorus chlorides has surprisingly been found that the success of the ensiling is particularly favored by the acid mixture, there the hydrochloric acid the emergence of undesirable fermentation processes due to their high acidity prevents and the phosphoric acid the very desirable lactic acid formation extraordinarily favorably influenced.
