Abstract
In a burner (1) for the combustion of liquid or gaseous fuels, its atomising nozzle (12) extends through a screen (21) and is arranged behind the screen (21) in the direction of flow of the combustion air. Furthermore, the atomising nozzle (12) is surrounded by a mixing member (31) which, with the nozzle and/or its casing (25), forms a mixing chamber (32) which is connected to the boiler space (4) via one or more ducts (33). By means of this design, it is possible to add a great quantity of waste gas in a defined controlled manner to the combustion air before the latter flows into the combustion chamber (20), so that a blue-burning soot-free flame with a low content of nitrogen oxides can be achieved. The waste gas is in this connection drawn into the mixing chamber (32) by the combustion air, which flows at high speed, and intimately mixed there, and a virtually stoichiometric combustion at a low temperature level is consequently guaranteed. <IMAGE>
