Es hat sich jedoch herausgestellt, daß das Aluminiumband an den Rändern nicht so sicher isoliert als in der Mitte, was wohl davon herrührt, daß die Oxydschicht an den Rändern nicht so gleichmäßig ist wie in der Mitte des Bandes. Es können z. Schneller kann man bei Oxydation auf elektrochemischem Wege zum Ziel gelangen, wenn man die Gegenelektroden zu dem selbst als Elektrode dienenden Aluminiumband so anordnet, daß sie die Ränder des Aluminiumbandes mit Spiel umgreifen, wobei die Gegenelektroden selbst so weit voneinander entfernt gehalten werden, daß nicht der größte Teil des Bandes oder gar das ganze Band gleichmäßig stark oxydiert werden kann. Man kann aber auch das Band vorher dem üblichen elektrochemischen Oxydationsprozeß unterziehen und danach die Oxydation der Ränder auf die angegebene Art verstärken. Die Gegenelektroden können auch zusammenstoßen, wenn ihre senkrechten Abstände von den einzelnen Teilen des Bandes verschieden groß, bei Verstärkung der Ränder also in der Mitte größer als an. den Rändern, gewählt werden.
