Description

The invention relates to a method for delustering artificial silk of any type and shape to give it the appearance of natural silk.

According to the invention, the rayon is impregnated with a titanium salt solution of such a concentration that during the decomposition of the salt following the impregnation by heating the impregnated rayon in or on this insoluble titanium compounds in an amount corresponding to about 0.5 to 4% TiO 2 , based on the Weight of rayon, to be knocked down. In some cases it is advantageous to decompose the titanium salt in or on the rayon by heating it under increased pressure.

It has already been proposed to use textile fabrics of any type with significant amounts of insoluble To impregnate rare earth compounds such as thor, cerium and also titanium. However, the intended purpose is there in it, the fabrics are water-repellent or impermeable, not shrinking and against the Resistant to attack by fungi and mold. However, it was unknown if the impregnation was correctly dimensioned to deluster artificial silk with the help of titanium compounds, whereby still note-Hch is that the de-glossed products are by no means water-repellent or water-impermeable are.

In this solution 100 g of rayon are immersed and so long as held therein, is achieved by a perfect saturation, and the solution is heated to a temperature of about 65 to about 100 0C. The rayon impregnated with the titanium salt can also be heated in an autoclave to decompose the titanium salt; pressures of 1.5 to 3 atm are suitable for this.

After decomposition, the rayon becomes more soluble for removal of any Washed fabrics and then dried.

Diese Undurchlässigkeit verdankt das Produkt der Lichtabsorption durch die darin niedergeschlagene Titanver-Instead of the very high sheen of the artificial silk, the end product has a pleasing, partially dulled appearance. In place of the banner of ordinary Artificial silk, the product is white and shows an opacity, which it immediately excels. The product owes this impermeability to the light absorption by the titanium coating deposited in it.
