Bei der Theilung der Flachsfasern für feine Spinnereien läfst man dieselben gewöhnlich zwischen einer geriefelten Metallwalze und einer Walze aus hartem Holze hindurchgehen. Für letztere hat man sich meistens des Buchsbaumholzes bedient; da dieses jedoch sehr theuer ist, habe ich andere Hölzer auf ihre Brauchbarkeit für den gedachten Zweck untersucht, und gefunden, dafs sich das Holz des Cornelkirschbaumes (cornus) noch besser eignet, als sogar Buchs.
