Bright annealing of metal, in particular copper and copper alloys
It is well known that copper and brass objects can work properly in the presence of water vapor
be annealed bright, only care must be taken during cooling that the water vapor
is displaced before its condensation by a neutral protective gas. Only
the annealing material may be removed from this gas. Both this procedure and
the facilities needed to carry it out are not only proportionate
involved, but also as a result of the use of a source of steam and inert gas
quite expensive. In addition, it must be taken into account that the hydrogen, which is preferred
as a protective gas comes into consideration, mix with air and the dangerous oxyhydrogen
can form, so that explosions cannot be ruled out.
The invention relates to a method for bright annealing of metal, preferably
of tape rolls and wire rings made of copper or brass, in the presence of water vapor,
where, among other things, inset pots are used that are located on the upper edge of the oven
can be sealed gas-tight by a cover. In the new process, the named
Disadvantages avoided in that according to the invention first the annealing pot with a
small amount of water that approximately fills the pot at atmospheric pressure and in the form of steam
is filled, then after charging the annealing pot and its gas-tight closure
Cover. however, when the lid valve is open the amount of water evaporates and the steam
is overheated, some of which escapes through the valve, then the resulting
diluted amount of steam with a gas-tight closed lid valve in a cold room
(e.g. cooling chamber or cooling water basin) to one which excludes the oxidation of the annealing material
Temperature is cooled and finally with the valve reopened with a moisture-absorbing
Gas is mixed. The annealing material can then be dry and completely blank in the pot
can be removed.
While known steam annealing processes are used to cool the annealing material
have atmospheric vapor pressure, prevails in the new process during the
Cooling to about .4o to 5ö'C in the glow pot a negative pressure, which the strongly diluted
Lets vapor exist without condensation even at this low temperature. That afterwards
supplied moisture-absorbing gas, for which dry air is particularly suitable,
then ensures that the steam is converted into a neutral gas mixture or gas mixture without condensation.
Air vapor mixture passes over.
