Process for the preparation of N-dihydro-1-2 .2 '. l'-anthraquinonazine dyes Patent 498 292 describes a process for the preparation of chlorine-fast N-dihydroi-2-2'-i'-anthraquinonazine, in which non-chlorine-fast N-dihydro-i-2-2 '-i'-anthraquinonazine treated in the presence of sulfuric acid with moderate water content with manganese dioxide or similar oxidizing agents. In the additional patent 500 178 the process of the main patent is modified to the effect that one works in low-water, anhydrous or anhydride-containing sulfuric acid. In the patent specification 216 891, on the other hand, a process for the preparation of a blue dye of the anthracene series is described in which N-dihydro-i - 2 - 2 '- i'-anthraquinone azine is treated with mild sulphurizing agents, expediently in the presence of boric acid. The result is a monosulfonic acid, which not only provides blue dyeing on wool from an acid bath, but can also be dyed on cotton from the warm hydrosulfite vat. The dyeings obtained show moderate fastness to chlorine with good lightfastness, because the blue dyeings turn from yellow-green to yellow on chlorination. It has now been found that the sulfonic acid of N-dihydro-i -: 2 - 2'-i'-anthraquinone azine changes into a dye, the coloration of which on cotton no longer changes from yellow-green to yellow when chlorinated when it is in a sulfuric acid solution treated with manganese dioxide or similar oxidizing agents. The treatment with oxidizing agents can be combined with the preparation of the sulfonic acid used as the starting material to form an operation. B. with phenols in sulfuric acid solution, converted into the hydroazine form.
fein gemahlenem, natürlichem Braunstein in 25 Teilen konzentrierter Schwefelsäure
geringen Umschlag nach blaugrün.EXAMPLE In a solution of 10 parts of dehydrated boric acid in 15o parts of sulfuric acid monohydrate, 3o to 40 ° 10 parts of N-dihydro-i - 2 - 2'-i'-anthraquinonazine, which in terms of its purity corresponds to the indanthrene blue RS of the trade, are added. and heated to about 120 ° until a sample taken out is largely soluble in an aqueous 2o to 25% pyridine solution, which is generally after about q. Hours is the case. It is then cooled to about 30 °, 8 parts of water and then a slurry of 5 parts of finely ground, natural manganese dioxide in 25 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid flow in, heated to 55 ' and stirred at 55 to 6o ° until the color of a removed and processed sample no longer shows a further improvement in the chlorine fastness. This is the case after about 5 hours. It is then diluted with about 100 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid, cooled to 30 to 0 °, and crude phenol is added until a sample taken out and diluted with water gives a blue suspension. It is then poured into water, boiled for about half an hour, filtered warm, washed with warm water and worked up in the known manner. The coloration of the product on cotton obtained from the warm hydrosulfite vat is greenish blue and shows only a slight change to blue-green when chlorinated.
