Process for the preparation of a new vat dye of the Anthraeliinonreilie. According to known processes, dicinthraquinonylamine derivatives which, in addition to an acridone ring, also contain at least one acylamino group, are converted into carbazole derivatives by the action of sulfuric acid.
It has now been found that dianthraquinonylamine derivatives which do not contain an acylamino group but contain at least two akridone rings can also be carbazolated by the action of sulfuric acid at low temperature and, if appropriate, subsequent oxidation of the intermediate product obtained. The new carbazo derivatives obtained in this way are valuable vat dyes or should be used as intermediates for such use.
The present invention now relates to a process for the preparation of a vat dye of the anthraquinone series, characterized in that the condensation of 4.3 '. 5'-trichloro-anthraquinone-N. 1 . 2-acridone with 4-amino-3 ". B'-dichloroanthraquinone-N. 1.
2-acridone he available condensation product allows sulfuric acid to act at a low temperature and oxidizes the resulting intermediate dye. Example:
21 parts by weight of trichloroanthraquinone acridone (obtained by chlorinating anthraquinone-N. 1,2-aeridone in nitrobenzene) and 20 parts by weight of 4-amino-3 '. 5'-dichloro-anthraquinone-N. 1 . As described in German Patent No. 513045, 2-acridone is heated to boiling for a few hours with 10 parts by weight of sodium acetate and 1 part by weight of copper chloride in 500 parts by weight of naphthalene.
The condensation product, which separates out in well-formed dark crystals, is worked up in the usual way. Parts by weight of the dianthraquinonakridonylamine thus obtained are dissolved at about 20 in 50 parts by weight of concentrated sulfuric acid. The initially yellow-brown solution color changes to olive after a short time. When the color of the solution no longer changes, the melt is poured into 50 parts by weight of water to which 3 parts by weight of sodium nitrite have been added and heated to 70 for 1 / e hour. The new dye is obtained from the formula
