Es hat sich in der Praxis gezeigt, daß diese Träger ein allmähliches Absetzen der festen Bestandteile bei längerer Aufbewahrung der Pasten nicht zu verhindern vermögen:--Man hat bereits versucht, diesen Übelstand dadurch zu beseitigen, daß man der Masse voluminöse Füllköper zufügte. Die alkalische Reaktion wirkt insofern günstig beim Schleifprozeß, als die meist fettigen und öligen oder verharzten Oberflächen der abzuschleifenden Gegenstände leichter entfernt werden. Ebenso werden die oxydierten Oberflächen der meisten Metalle gleichfalls leicht beseitigt.
