Manufacture of sodium sulfite and chlorammonium In the patent
434983 is the production of \ Tatriumsulfit and Chlorammonium by reacting
Ammonium sulfite described with chlorammonium. Deposition of sodium sulfite
takes place in the heat, while chlorammonium filtered from the hot sodium sulfite
Solution is obtained by cooling. So now the sodium sulfite containing ammonia solution
also below the temperature at which Na.SO, -; 7 aqua forms, cooled «earth
can, one passes so much sulphurous sulfur during or before the cooling of the chlorammonium
Acid, so that the sodium sulfite in solution is completely or partially converted into sodium bisulfite
is converted. It should be noted that a smaller amount of
sulphurous acid than it used to convert the dissolved sodium sulphite into bisulphite
is necessary the intended purpose, namely the formation and excretion of
Sodium sulfite hydrate prevents it from being made up of sodium bisulfite and sodium sulfite
Form easily soluble and water-free double salts.
If you want to design the process into a continuous cycle, which can be done by neutralizing the solution filtered from chlorammonium, which already contains sodium bisulfite, with ammonia and reacting the ammonium sulfite formed with newly added sodium chloride, it is advantageous not after propose of the patent 43-1983 sodium sulfite in solution completely or only partially convert in \ Tatriumbisulfit, but it is advantageous to initiate an even larger amount of sulfuric acid in the solution to eutralisation by N with ammonia and reacting with, äquival.enten Amount of sodium chloride to separate the largest possible amount of sodium sulfite and chlorammonium from a given amount of lye. The introduction of the largest possible amount of sulphurous acid is important because it saves not only on apparatus space, but also on heat, which has to be added when separating the sodium sulphite and removed when separating the salmiaks, and which is included in the calculation of the procedure plays a role.
It was found, however, that the amount of sulphurous acid contained in the reaction liquor
can be introduced, is not arbitrarily large, but is restricted by it,
that after neutralization with ammonia and reaction with the equivalent amount
Sodium chlorine in the solution no more chlorammonium is formed than in the heat
can remain in solution at the deposition temperature of the sodium sulfite, so that
the
Sodium sulfate is not contaminated with chlorammonium.
The method can be carried out in such a way that one already has during or
also before the separation of the chlorammonium, the solution with that given above
Amount of sulphurous acid saturates, or one can proceed in such a way that one after the
Separation of the chlorammonium according to the process of the main patent only as much
Sulphurous acid causes the chlorammonium to be free of hydrated sodium sulphite
can be filtered off. After filtration of chlorammonium, the is formed
h Sodium bisulfite neutralized with ammonia, and then as much ammonia is added
and sulphurous acid and the equivalent amount of sodium chloride at the same time or in succession
added that there is just as much chlorammonium in the solution as it does in the
Can keep the separation temperature of the sodium sulfite still with certainty in solution.
