Description

Process for the production of crystallized sulphates of iron, Copper, zinc and nickel. In the German patent specification 431 581 is a method described for the extraction of crystallized sulphates of iron, copper, zinc and nickel, consisting in the fact that one already has before the deposition of the sulfate crystals by cooling the saturated solution that for the next. Dissolution process necessary Sulfuric acid is added, but according to the percentage of the solution Sulphate certain temperatures and certain concentrations with respect to both Sulfuric acid as well as sulfates.

It has now been found that the same effect of increasing the yield of crystallized sulfates is achieved by the presence of previously added refreshing sulfuric acid if solutions which still contain several percent free acid and are not particularly refreshed are cooled to temperatures which are substantially below the average outside temperature . As a result of the removal of the water of crystallization by the sulphates, the content of free acid in the mother liquor, which remains quantitatively in solution, is so high in percentage and the sulphate content is so low that the mother liquor with a greatly reduced dissolving time is economically successful again Solving metals can be used. Example. 1 o cbm = 13,500 kg of a no longer useful Abfallbeize with a content of 50 percent ferrous sulphate and 5 percent sulfuric acid are cooled to I ', then are deposited on the existing 685o kg ferrous sulphate 515o kg, it remain in solution 170o kg, ie only 1/4 of the amount previously available, that is a percentage in the mother liquor of only 13.3 percent, the percentage of sulfuric acid increases from 5 percent to 7.5 percent at the same time and the pickling time goes down to 1/3 at the same pickling temperature. If the solution is brought to the initial volume of the stain, then I1 25o kg stain with 15.1 percent iron vitriol is obtained.
