Description
In der Röntgencomputertomographie wandelt der Röntgendetektor
das auftreffende Röntgensignal in ein elektrisches Signal.
Die gebräuchlichsten Detektorprinzipien sind ein Array von
Xenon-Ionisationskammern oder von Szintillatoren und nachge
ordneten Photodioden.
Bei einem Szintillator-Photodiodenarray wandelt der Szintil
lator die auftreffenden Röntgenquanten in Photonen. Die in
Strahlenrichtung nach dem Szintillator liegende Photodiode
absorbiert die auftreffenden Photonen und man erhält einen
Photostrom, der zur einfallenden Röntgenlichtintensität pro
portional ist.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Photodioden
array so auszubilden, daß die Photodioden monolithisch auf
einem Substrat aufgebaut sind, wobei Röntgenquanten, die zu
einem geringen Anteil direkt in die Photodioden eindringen,
kein unerwünschtes Störsignal erzeugen, und wobei das
Signalübersprechen von einem Detektorkanal zum nächsten weit
gehend reduziert ist.
Diese Aufgabe ist erfindungsgemäß gelöst durch ein Photo
diodenarray gemäß dem Patentanspruch, das insbesondere in der
Röntgencomputertomographie angewendet werden kann.
Die Erfindung ist nachfolgend anhand eines in der Zeichnung
dargestellten Ausführungsbeispieles näher erläutert. Es zei
gen:
Fig. 1 einen Schnitt,
Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht auf ein Photodiodenarray nach der Er
findung, und
Fig. 3 eine Diodenschaltung für das Photodiodenarray gemäß
den Fig. 1 und 2.
In der Fig. 1 ist ein Substrat 1 mit einem Rückseitenkontakt
2 dargestellt, auf dem eine Reihe von Photodioden 3 aufge
bracht ist. Links ist ein Randaufbau und rechts ein Mitten
aufbau dargestellt. Zwischen jeweils zwei Photodioden 3 ist
eine Absaugdiode 4 integriert. Die Photodioden 3 erfassen das
Licht von über ihnen liegenden Szintillatoren und wandeln es
in entsprechende elektrische Signale. In Fig. 1 ist das
Schaltbild der Photodioden 3 und einer Absaugdiode 4 einge
zeichnet. In Fig. 2 ist die Struktur der Photodioden 3 und
der Absaugdioden 4 von oben sichtbar.
Es ergibt sich demgemäß, daß in jedem Zwischenraum zwischen
zwei Silizium-Photodioden 3 eine Absaugdiode 4 eingebaut ist.
Die Photodioden 3 sind nahezu vollständig von der Struktur
der Absaugdioden 4 umgeben (Fig. 2). Die Kontaktierung aller
Dioden 3, 4 erfolgt gemäß Fig. 3. Die Anodenseiten der Ab
saugdioden 4 werden untereinander und mit dem Rückseitenkon
takt 2 verbunden. Der Rückseitenkontakt 2, der die gemeinsame
Kathode für alle Dioden 3, 4 bildet, ist nach außen gezogen.
In den Fig. 2 und 3 sind mit 5 noch die Anschlüsse der Photo
dioden 3 bezeichnet.
Die Wirkungsweise der Absaugdioden 4 ist folgende:
- 1. Röntgenquanten, die im Bereich der Raumladungszone einer Absaugdiode 4 absorbiert werden, führen hier zu Ladungen im Silizium, die abgesaugt werden. Selbst Ladungen, die innerhalb der Diffusionslänge (für Elektronen und Löcher) von der Raumladungszone entfernt durch Gammaquanten gene riert werden, werden zu einem gewissen Teil abgesaugt. Insgesamt wird dadurch der Beitrag der Direktkonversion reduziert.
- 2. Lichtquanten, die in die Raumladungszone einer Absaugdiode 4 eindringen, werden vollständig (100%) absorbiert und die generierte Ladung wird kurzgeschlossen. Die einzelnen Pho todioden 3 sind durch die Absaugdioden 4 elektrisch von einander definiert getrennt, so daß mit dieser Maßnahme auch das Übersprechen reduziert ist.
Claims (1)
- Photodiodenarray mit einem Substrat (1), auf dem eine Reihe von Photodioden (3) aufgebaut ist, wobei zwischen jeweils zwei Photodioden (3) eine Absaugdiode (4) eingebaut ist und die Anoden der Absaugdioden (4) untereinander und mit dem Rückseitenkontakt (2) des Substrats (1) verbunden sind.
