Metalldampfgleichrichter.
Metal vapor rectifier. During operation of a metal vapor rectifier
residual gases escape from the anodes, which worsen the vacuum.
A well-known arrangement for maintaining the vacuum in the vicinity
the anode consists in that the steam jet by means of a collecting vessel on
the open ends of the anode protection tubes and then through a suction nozzle
acting, located below the anode protection tubes through into a gap
conducts condensation and gas collection space connected to the cathode space.
besonders wirksamer Weise herausgesaugt.
The invention aims to improve this arrangement by
that the A.nodenschutzrohre are bent so that their open ends in the direction
of the steam flow returning after the gap.
To this
Way, their content is due to residual gases. that forms during operation
the powerful steam flow that flows from the steam collecting space to the nozzle gap, in
sucked out particularly effectively. By bending the pipe mouths
at the same time the discharge path, which would form in the event of an anode short circuit, several times
broken, so that the risk of short circuits is reduced and practically eliminated.
a, der z.
i der Anoden k eingesetzt.
i, die in Richtung seiner Strömung liegen, vorbeistreift.
The invention is illustrated in more detail in the figure. In the container a, the z. B. consists of iron, the funnel-shaped insert b is installed so that it breaks down the mercury layer into an inner vaporizing part c and an outer part f which receives the condensed mercury and the residual gases of the space d. The space d is connected to the anode space h through the annular nozzle gap g. In the latter, the curved tubes i of the anodes k are inserted from above. The bent open ends are above the plane of the gap g. The lines marked with arrows show how the mercury vapor initially collected in the interior m of the insert b brushes past the bent mouths of the tubes i, which lie in the direction of its flow, on its way to the gap g. He sucks the residual gases out of these tubes and takes them with him into the space d below the gap g, where the residual gases are collected under compression at a point that is harmless to the operation, while the mercury vapor condenses there. The latter can be supported by external cooling of the container, which is not indicated.
A pipe p can serve, if necessary, to remove the residual gases from the room
d to remove.
