Abstract
A towed submersible body (1) sustained by floats (2) is constituted by a flexible rubber shell (7) with rigid bow and stern elements (5,6). Openings in the bow section (5) admit seawater at a pressure differential w.r.t. the surrounding water, maintaining the cylindrical shape of the centre section. The overall length is stabilised by fore and aft trimming cells (8) and longitudinally spaced diving cells (17) filled with gas from a reservoir (18), with a lengthwise stretch cable (15). The magnetic field is produced by a winding around an intermodule connection (23).
