Die beiden spannungsführenden Stromleiter 5 jedes Seitenbereiches 1a und 1b stellen mit einem dazugehörigen Erdungsleiter 6 einen Stromkreis dar. Unterhalb des Isolierprofils 4 sind im Metallprofil 2 seitlich jeweils in Längsrichtung der Stromschiene verlaufende Ausnehmungen 8 und 9 eingearbeitet, die Tragstege 10 und 11 bilden, auf die in die Stromschiene eingeführte Adapter oder andere Zubehörteile des Stromschienensystems (in der Zeichnung nicht näher dargestellt) eingesetzt werden können. In den seitlichen Ausnehmungen 8 und 9 läßt sich der Adapter mit Strahler oder Leuchte gleitend verschieben und an jedem beliebigen Punkt innerhalb der Schienenlänge festlegen.
