Das Umlwufwasser wird durch eine entsprechende Leitung mit einem Speisewassergefäß o. dgl.verbunden. Durch Erwärmung des im Hohlrost umlaufenden Wassers wird der Rost vor dem Verbrennen geschützt und zugleich die Wasserkühlung des Rostes für die Erwärmung des Speisewassers nutzbar gemacht. Die Verbrennungsluft tritt durch die Rostspalten ein, während die sich im Aschenraum vorwärmende- Sekundärluft zur Erzielung einer rauchfreien Verbrennung durch die .mit einer Schlitzregelung o versehenen Kanäle f und Öffnungen k oberhalb der Kohlenschicht in den Verbrennungsraum eintritt und sich an den Wänden g, i weiter vorwärmt. Die Sekundärluft mischt sich .mit den Feuer- und Rauchgasen und schon über dem Rost wird eine rauchfreie Verbrennung eingeleitet.
