The present invention relates to a closure device for sealingly closing a container according to the preamble of claim 1.

In the past, different lid designs or closure devices were used to seal a container. One well-known example is a snap-on lid, which is usually placed over the outer edge of the container and closes the container due to its elasticity.

In addition, recessed lids with a cylindrical flange are known, such as those used for closing paint cans or other chemical containers.

Also known are closure devices in the form of a circular lid for all types of barrels, whereby the lids are closed by means of a locking clamping device which engages the upper edge of the lid and an opposite protruding edge of the container and closes the container by clamping it in the circumferential direction.

In the case of barrels, the lids often have screw-on openings through which liquid contents can be emptied - usually through the larger opening - while the smaller opening also serves to equalize the pressure. Special accessories are often required, which can include tools for unscrewing the barrels and/or pouring devices, taps or the like, in order to properly empty the barrels. Since different countries often have different standards for threads and bore diameters, etc., it has become common practice for many chemical manufacturers and petrochemical companies to supply the accessories for their barrels to the customer.

In the past, this was done on the one hand by means of separate accessory packages that were delivered together with the barrels, but this often led to such individual parts being lost or mixed up, so that these accessories often had to be reordered, which resulted in a not inconsiderable loss of time.

Furthermore, for practical reasons, it is not possible to attach accessories to the side walls of the barrels - for example using adhesive strips - because this would hinder the barrels from rolling for transport over short distances and/or would damage the accessories.

On the other hand, the accessories were sometimes glued directly to the lids of the barrels using adhesive tape. However, this also often resulted in these parts being torn off and lost during transport, and on the other hand, the glued-on accessories hindered the stacking of the individual containers, especially barrels, on top of each other, which often led to unacceptable safety risks, so that such barrels could only be stacked next to each other, which in turn resulted in high transport costs that had to be passed on to the end user.

Based on this prior art, the object of the present invention was therefore to create a possibility to securely arrange the accessories required for special containers on the container without impairing the stackability.

This problem is solved by the characterizing features of claim 1.

According to the invention, a closure device is provided for sealingly closing a container, wherein the closure device has a recess which projects into the interior of the container.

The accessory material is then arranged in this recess, for example by clamping, gluing, screwing or the like, so that the accessory does not protrude above the surface of the closure device, in particular

especially the lid. This does not affect the stackability of the containers, for example the barrels.

Preferably, the recess can contain valves, pouring aids, tools or the like as accessories.

The closing device according to the invention is particularly suitable for closing barrel-like containers, in particular for sealing lubricant barrels.

The recess can have a round, oval, rectangular or parallelepiped shape and can, if required, be tapered or widened towards the inside of the container in order to be optimally adapted to the accessories to be accommodated.

Particularly preferably, the recess itself can have a lid, which prevents small parts from being lost during transport.

Such a cover can, for example, also comprise adhesive tape, which at least partially covers the recess.

In addition, it is advantageous if the recess is compartmentalized, i.e. it contains several chambers into which different materials and/or accessories such as screws, seals, tools, etc. can be inserted. The recess can also have means for holding the accessories - such as clamping devices.

In Figure 1, 1 denotes a closure device according to the invention, in the example case the lid of a lubricant drum. The recess 2 oriented towards the interior of the container is conical in the example case.

Inside 3 is the accessory 4, in the example a tap.

Figure 2 shows the arrangement of the closure device 1 on a lubricant barrel 5.

When the lubricant barrel 5 is sealed with the lid 1, the recess 2 protrudes into the interior 6 of the lubricant barrel 5.

The accessory 4 is located inside 3 of the recess 2. The recess 2 can, but does not have to, be submerged under the surface 7 of the lubricant inside 6 of the lubricant barrel 5.

Figure 3 shows a top view of the closing device according to the invention. In addition to the recess 2, which contains the accessory 4 in its interior, the closing device 1 has a screwable opening 8 which serves, for example, as a vent opening. In addition, the lowering device 1 has a pouring opening 9, which can also be screwed on, into which the tap as the accessory 4 can be screwed.

The present invention allows accessories of all kinds to be securely arranged inside 3 of the recess 2, so that on the one hand they are no longer lost and on the other hand the containers, in the example lubricant drums, can be safely stacked without the accessories hindering the stacking.
