Diese Erfindung betrifft funktionelle Flüssigkeiten,
im besonderen hydraulische Flüssigkeiten und Monoepoxycyelohexylverbindungen,
die zur Inhibierung der Säurebildung in solchen Flüssigkeiten wirksam sind«

Funktionelle Flüssigkeiten werden für verschiedene Zwecke verwendet, wie beispielsweise als elektronische Kühlmittel,
Flüssigkeiten für Diffusionspumpen, Schmiermittel, Dämpfungsflüssigkeiten, Basismaterialien für Fette, Kraftübertragungs-
und hydraulische Flüssigkeiten, Wärmeübertragungsflüssigkeiten,
Flüssigkeiten für Wärmepumpen, Flüssigkeiten für Kühlvorrichtungen und als Filtermedien für
Klimaanlagen. Von allen diesen Verwendungen müssen hydraulische Flüssigkeiten, die für hydraulische Systeme in
Flugzeugen für das Arbeiten verschiedener Mechanismen und für Flugzeugkontrollsysteme vorgesehen sind, den härtesten
funktioneilen und Gebrauchsforderungen entsprechen. Eine
der bedeutendsten Forderungen hinsichtlich einer in Flugzeugen zur Verwendung kommenden hydraulischen Flüssigkeit
ist, daß die Flüssigkeit chemisch stabil ist, um dem oxidativen und thermischen Abbau zu widerstehen, der die Bildung
von Säuren und die Korrosion der Metalle, die mit der hydraulischen Flüssigkeit in Kontakt kommen, zur Folge haben
kann.
Um den Grad der Säurebildung während der Verwendung der Flüssigkeit zu kontrollieren und die Korrosion der Komponenten
in einem hydraulischen System zu inhibieren, ist es üblich, bestimmte Säurefänger und/oder Korrosionsinhibitoren
dem Basismaterial der hydraulischen Flüssigkeit zuzugeben.

Obgleich, eine Vielzahl von Verbindungen als Korrosionsinhibitoren
vorgeschlagen wurden, werden Säureakzeptoren, die als Protonenakzeptoren wirken und die Bildung korrosiver
Säuren in den Flüssigkeiten vermeiden, wenn diese bei längerer Verwendung bei hohen Temperaturen dem Abbau unterliegen,
im allgemeinen bevorzugt. Eine besonders bevorzugte Klasse derartiger Materialien umfaßt Epoxyverbindungen,
im besonderen epoxidierte natürlich vorkommende Materialien, wie epoxidierte ungesättigte Glyzeride, einschließlich
epoxidiertes Sojabohnenöl, epoxidiertes Rizinusöl,
epoxidiertes Leinöl, epoxidierte Fette und dergleichen. Zu weiteren vorgesehenen Materialien gehören Epoxyester,
wie Butylepoxyacetoxystearat, Glyzerintriepoxyacetoxystearat,
Isooctylepoxystearat, epoxidiertes Isooctylphthalat und dergleichen. Ebenso vorgesehen sind verschiedene
Alkyl- und Arylalkylepoxide, wie Epoxydekan, Epoxyhexadekan, Epoxyoctadekan, Cyclododekan und dergleichen
und Glyzerin und verschiedene Glyzidyläther, wie Phenylglyzidyläther, Glyzidylcyclohexyläther, Alkylglyzidyläther
und dergleichen.
Neuerdings wurde eine besondere Klasse von Epoxyverbindungen, die 3,4~Epoxycycloalkyl-3,4-epoxycycloalkylcarboxylate
vorgeschlagen, die als Säureakzeptoren für hydraulische Flüssigkeiten besonders brauchbar und wirksamer
als die bisher verwendeten Epoxyverbindungen sind.

Eine besonders bevorzugte Verbindung ist 3>4-Epoxycyclohexylmethyl^^-epoxycyclohexancarboxylat.
Es handelt sich um bekannte chemische "Verbindungen, die bisher als
Säurefänger für chlorierte diphenyl-dielektrische Flüssigkeiten vor ihrer Einführung als Inhibitoren für hydraulische
Flüssigkeiten verwendet wurden.
Obgleich die 3,4-Epoxycycloalkyl-3»4-epoxycloalkylcarboxylate
für die üblichen hydraulischen Flüssigkeiten wirksame Säurefänger sind, haben sie den Nachteil, daß
sie harzige Ablagerungen um den Pumpenschaft bei der Dichtstelle bilden. Die Bildung von Ablagerungen tritt
besonders bei hydraulischen Systemen in Flugzeugen auf, die unter Druck arbeiten und wo die Ablagerungen bald zu
einem Entweichen der Flüssigkeit durch die Abdicht stelle führen. Obgleich das Problem des Leckens der Dichtung an
der Pumpenwelle im Hinblick auf den Betrieb von Flugzeugen keine ernsthafte Schwierigkeiten bildet, ist es doch
so lästig, daß die Flugzeugindustrie und die Hersteller von hydraulischen Flüssigkeiten für Flugzeuge aktiv nach
anderen Säureakzeptoren suchen, die so leistungsfähig und wirksam sind wie das 3>4-Epoxycyclohexylmethyl-3»4-epoxycyclohexancarboxylat,
sich aber nicht ablagern und nicht die bei diesem Material auftretenden Leckprobleme aufweisen.
Gegenstand dieser Erfindung ist ein wirksamer Säureakzep-

tor zur Vermeidung der Säurebildung in funktionellen Flüssigkeiten.
Andere Gegenstände dieser Erfindung sind:
- Ein Säureakzeptor,der ohne nachteilige Sekundärwirkungen
in funktionellen Flüssigkeiten, die weiterhin einen polymeren Viskositätsindexverbesserer enthalten, verwendet
werden kann;
- funktionelle Flüssigkeiten, die gegenüber thermischem
und oxidativem Abbau resistent und zur Verwendung in hydraulischen Systemen in Flugzeugen geeignet sind;
- hydraulische Flüssigkeiten für Flugzeuge, die einen polymeren Viskositätsindexverbesserer und einen Epoxid-Säureakzeptor
enthalten, der kein Lecken an der Dichtung der Pumpenwelle verursacht.
Die funktionellen Flüssigkeiten dieser Erfindung enthalten eine größere Menge von wenigstens etwa 50 G-ewo$ eines
Basismaterials, nämlich Ester oder Amide einer Säure von Phosphor, Di- oder Tricarbonsäureester und/oder Ester von
Verbindungen, die mehrere Hydroxylgruppen enthalten, von 0 bis geringe Anteile eines oder mehrerer anderer Baäsmaterialien
oder Basismaterial-Modifizierungsmittel und etwa 0,1 bis 15 $ einer Verbindung der Formel

worin jeder der Reste R1, R2, R3 und R^, unabhängig von
dem anderen, ein Wasserstoffatom oder ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, vorausgesetzt, daß wenigstens
ein Rest eine Alkylgruppe ist, wobei die Alkylgruppen vorzugsweise 1 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten. Eine
besonders bevorzugte Verbindung ist Methyl-3,4-epoxycyclohexan.
Die Zubereitungen der funktionellen Flüssigkeiten können polymere Viskositätsindexverbesserer und andere
herkömmliche Additive enthalten und sind besonders brauchbar als hydraulische Flüssigkeiten für Flugzeuge.
Die funktionellen Flüssigkeitszubereitungen der vorliegenden Erfindung enthalten als wesentliche Komponenten
ein Basismaterial mit einer Epoxyverbindung. Die Konzentration der Epoxyverbindung in der funktionellen Flüssigkeit
ist entsprechend den Forderungen des Systems und der Natur des verwendeten Basismaterials unter Bildung von Zubereitungen
eingestellt, die ausreichende Mengen an Epoxymaterial zur Inhibierung der Säurebildung während dem normalen
Betrieb enthalten. Es wurde festgestellt, daß die Konzentration der Epoxyverbindung, die zur Inhibierung und
Kontrolle der Säurebildung in einem jeweiligen Basismaterial erforderlich ist, entsprechend der Zusammensetzung
des Basismaterials oder dem Gemisch der Basismaterialien variiert. Es wurde im allgemeinen festgestellt, daß bevorzugte
Additivmengen der Epoxyverbindungen 0,10 bis 5,0 Gew.?b sind, obgleich Konzentrationen von 15 i° oder höher

wirksam sein und verwendet werden können. Es beinhaltet daher die vorliegende Erfindung funktionelle Flüssigkeiten,
die ein Basismaterial und ein Epoxymaterial in einer ausreichenden Konzentration zur Steuerung und Inhibierung
der Säurebildung in dem Basismaterial enthalten. Die Flüssigkeiten dieser Erfindung können in jeder dem Fachmann
bekannten Weise gemischt werden, wozu man ein Additiv in das Basismaterial einbringt, wie beispielsweise durch Zugabe
der Epoxyverbindung zu dem Basismaterial unter Rühren, bis eine einheitliche Flüssigkeitszubereitung erhalten
ist.
Zu geeigneten Epoxymaterialien, wie oben beschrieben, gehören:

Diese Verbindungen können nach dem Fachmann bekannten
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Epοxyverbindungen hergestellt werden, beispielsweise nach Verfahren wie sie in der US-Patentschrift 3,187.018 beschrieben sind, auf die hier Bezug genommen wirde

Cyclohexen oder alkylsubstituiertes Cyclohexen kann zur
Herstellung der Epoxycyclohexane dieser Erfindung verwendet
werden. Beispielsweise wird alkylsubstituiertes Cyclohexen mit Wasserstoffperoxid epoxidiert.
Wie erwähnt, wird das Basismaterial, das wenigstens etwa 50 G-ew.$ der funktionellen Flüssigkeit der vorliegenden

Erfindung bildet, aus Estern und Amiden einer Säure des Phosphor, Di- oder Tricarbonsäureestern, Estern von Verbindungen
mit mehreren Hydroxylgruppen und deren Gemische, ausgewählt. Diese Basismaterialien und Beispiele für solche
sind in der US-Patentschrift 3.723.320 beschrieben, auf die hier Bezug genommen wird.
Kohlenwasserstoffphosphate werden bevorzugt. Zu Phosphorester-Basismaterialien
gehören Trialkylphosphate, Triaryl- und/oder Alkyl-substituierte Arylphosphate und gemischte
Aryl- und/oder substituierte Arylalkylphosphate. Im Hinblick auf die Alkylgruppen wird es bevorzugt, daß diese
etwa 2 bis etwa 18, insbesondere etwa 2 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatome
aufweisen, und daß die Aryl- und substituierten Arylgruppen vorzugsweise etwa 6 bis etwa 16 Kohlenstoffatome
und insbesondere etwa 6 bis etwa 12 Kohlenstoffatome aufweisen·
Typische Beispiele für bevorzugte Phosphate sind Dibutylphenylphosphat,
Triphenylphosphat, Tricresylphosphat, Tributylphosphat, Tri-2-äthylhexylphosphat, Trioctylphosphat,
die Phosphate, die in der US-Patentschrift 3.723.315 beschrieben sind, auf die hier Bezug genommen
wird, wie Di(nonylphenyl)-phenylphosphat, Di(cumylphenyl)-phenylphosphat,
(Cumylphenyl) (Nonylphenyl)-phenylphosphat
und Gemische der vorausgehend angegebenen Phosphate, wie Gemische von Tributylphosphat und Tricresylphosphat, Ge-

mische von Iriphenylphosphat und 2-Äthylhexyldiphenylphosphat,
Gemische von Cumylphenyldiphenylphosphat, Nonylphenyldiphenylphosphat, 2-Äthylhexyldiphenylphosphat
und Triphenylphosphat. Ein "bevorzugtes Gemisch enthält 45 bis 65 $ Iripheny!.phosphat, 25 bis 45 fi Reaktionsprodukt von 1,5 bis 2 Mol Nonylphenol, 0,5 bis 1 Mol Cumylphenol,
6 bis 7 Mol Phenol mit 3 Mol Phosphoroxychlorid und 5 bis 15 fi 2-lthylhexyldiphenylphosphat. Alle Prozentsätze
sind Gewichtsprozentsätze und beziehen sich auf das Gesamtgewicht des Gemische.
Außer diesen Basismaterialien kann die funktioneile Flüssigkeit bis zu 50 i<>
ein oder mehrere andere Basismaterialien enthalten. Beispiele solcher anderer Basismaterialien
sind in der US-Patentschrift 3.723.320 beschrieben. Obgleich es nicht erlaubt ist, diese anderen Basismaterialien
in größeren Mengen in den funktioneilen Flüssigkeiten der vorliegenden Erfindung zu verwenden, können
sie einzeln oder zusammen als geringere Komponente des Gesamtbasismaterials in geringeren Mengen als etwa 50 Gew,$
vorhanden sein.
Neben den Basismaterialien und der Monoepoxycyclohexylverbindung
können die Flüssigkeiten der vorliegenden Erfindung ein oder mehrere Basismaterial-Modifizierungsmittel
enthalten. Unter dem Begriff "Basismaterial-Modifizierungsmittel" ist ein Material zu verstehen, das, wenn es
dem Basismaterial zugegeben wird, eine bestimmbare Ände-

rung der chemischen oder physikalischen Eigenschaften des Basismaterials bewirkt. Zu Beispielen typischer Modifizierungsmittel,
die weitgehend zur Formulierung von hydraulischen und anderen funktionellen Flüssigkeiten verwendet
werden, gehören Stockpunkterniedriger, Antioxidationsmittel, Antischaummittel, Viskositätsindexverbesserer
wie Polyalkylacrylate, Polyalkylmethacrylate, polycyclische Polymerisate, Pulyurethane, Polyalkylenoxide
und Polyester, Schmiermittel und Wasser.
Die bevorzugten polymeren Viskositätsindexverbesserer, die in den Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung verwendet werden
können, sind Polymerisate von Alkylestern von ungesättigten Monocarbonsäuren der Formel
C-H
worin jeder der Reste R^ und Rg, unabhängig von dem anderen,
ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine C1- bis etwa C.q-Alkylgruppe
und der Rest Ry eine Cj- bis etwa Cjp-Alkylgruppe
ist. Die durch R^, Rg und R- dargestellten Alkylgruppen
können im Rahmen der oben beschriebenen Definitionen beispielsweise Methyl-, Äthyl-, Propyl-, Butyl-,
t-Butyl-, Isopropyl-, 2-Äthylhexyl-, Hexyl-, Decyl-,
Undecyl-, Dodecyl- und dergleichen G-ruppen sein. Zu die-

sen Polymerisaten gehören beispielweise Poly(butylmethacrylate),
Poly(hexy!methacrylate), PolyCoctylacrylate),
PolyCdodecylacrylate) und Polymerisate, worin der Ester
ein Gemisch von Verbindungen ist, die man durch Veresterung der cc-ß-ungesättigten Monocarbonsäure mit einem Gemisch
von Monoalkoholen mit 1 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen erhält. Diese und andere "Basismaterial-Modifizierungsmittel"
sind in der US-Patentschrift 3.723.320 beschrieben.
In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung enthält die funktioneile Flüssigkeit wenigstens
etwa 50 Gew.$ Phosphatester oder Gemische von Phosphatestern der nachfolgenden allgemeinen Formel

nämlich Alkyl-, Alkoxyalkyl-, Aralkyl-, Aroxyalkyl-,

oder mehrere andere Basismaterialien, wie vorausgehend definiert, enthalten.
Besonders bevorzugte funktionelle Flüssigkeiten enthalten
wenigstens etwa 65 Gew<>$ Phosphatester und weniger als etwa
35 Grew»?» andere Materialien einschließlich anderer Basismaterialien

Gew.^ Phosphatester und weniger als etwa 20 Gew.$ andere
Materialien. Besonders bevorzugte Phosphatester, die in den Zubereitungen dieser Erfindung Verwendung finden,
sind Dialkylarylphosphate, worin die Alkylreste 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatome haben, z.B. Dibutylphenylphosphat und Gemische
von Trialkylphosphat und Triarylphosphat, wie ein
88/12-Gemisch von Tributylphosphat/Tricresylphosphat.
Die Erfindung wird durch die nachfolgenden Beispiele erläutert. Alle Teile und Prozentsätze beziehen sich auf
das Gewicht, es sei denn, daß dies anders angegeben ist.
In ein geeignetes Reaktionsgefäß gibt man

Zu diesem Gemisch gibt man langsam tropfenweise 116 g
Metachlorperbenzoesäure in 400 ml Methyläther. Das Reaktionsgefäß
hält man auf einem Eisbad, um die Reaktionstemperatur bei 20 bis 26 C während der Zugabe, die etwa
45 Minuten dauert, zu halten. Das Reaktionsgemisch wäscht und trocknet man. Die Ausbeute an Produkt beträgt 47»3 g,
dabei 99»2 $ gewünschtes Cyclohexan. Versuchsergebnisse
sind in der folgenden Tabelle angegebeno

1. Säurebildung, Stunden bis zu einer 0,50 titrierfähigen Säurezahl (TAN)

Die Basisflüssigkeit A enthält 94,2 $ Dibutylphenylphosphat$
5,1 io Polyalkylmethacrylat-Polymerisat-Viskositätsindexverbesserer} 0,2 $ V/asser
Bei dem vorausgehenden Versuch wurde die Stabilität der Flüssigkeit gegenüber oxidativen Verfall und Säurebildung
dadurch bestimmt, daß man Proben der Flüssigkeit bei 1350C
zur Feststellung der Säurebildung periodisch titriert. Die titrierfähige Säurezahl (TAN) von 0,50 wurde als feststellbare
Größe bestimmt und die Anzahl der Stunden, die erforderlich war, daß die Flüssigkeit diesen Säuregehalt aufweist,
wurde als Säurebildungszahl festgehalten. Die Korrosionsgeschwindigkeiten wurden bestimmt und als Metall-
verlust in mg/cm angegeben.
Die Werte hinsichtlich des Leckens der Wellendichtung
wurden dadurch bestimmt, daß man die Flüssigkeit in einer geschlossenen Schlinge durch eine Flugzeug-Hydraulikpumpe
des Typs APL-10V-7B laufen ließ, die mit 3600 UpM und einer Flüssigkeitstemperatur von 107 C und einem Druck
von 3»1 kg/cm betrieben wurde. Der Rotor der Wellendichtung
war aus rostfreiem Stahl, Typ 440, während der Stator aus gesinterter Bronze bestand. Die um die Welle der Pumpe
austretende Flüssigkeit wurde gesammelt und gewogen und die Werte geben gesammelte Gramm Flüssigkeit/Stunde Versuch
an. Die vorbestimmte Versuchsdauer betrug minimal 200 Stunden, es sei denn, daß ein bedeutendes Lecken eine
vorzeitige Beendigung erforderlich machte.

Zusammenfassend beinhaltet die vorliegende Erfindung funktioneile Flüssigkeiten, die eine größere Menge eines
Basismaterials, das ein Ester oder ein Amid einer Säure von Phosphor, ein Di- oder Tricarbonsäureester und/oder
ein Ester einer Verbindung mit mehreren Hydroxylgruppen ist, gegebenenfalls geringere Mengen anderer Basismaterialien
oder Basismaterial-Modifizierungsmittel, die Viskositätsindexverbesserer, Inhibitoren für Cavitationsschäden
und Schmiermittel und eine additive Menge eines Säurefängers und Korrosionsinhibitors enthält, der ein
Monoepoxy-substituiertes Cyclohexan, wie C, ,-Alkyl-3,4-epoxycyclohexan
ist. Die Zubereitungen sind besonders wertvoll als hydraulische Flüssigkeiten für Flugzeuge.

Claims (1)
- - 18 Patentansprüche :1. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit, dadurch kennzeichnet , daß sie enthältg e -(A) wenigstens etwa 50 Gew.$ Basismaterial, nämlich Ester und Amide einer Säure von Phosphor, Di- oder Tricarbonsäureester und/oder Ester von Verbindungen mit mehreren Hydroxylgruppen und(B) etwa 0,1 bis 15 Gew.^ einer Epoxidverbindung der allgemeinen Formelworin jeder der Resteund R. ,unabhängigvon dem anderen, ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis etwa 18 Kohlenstoffatomen oder ein Wasserstoffatom ist, mit der Maßgabe, daß wenigstens ein Rest eine Alkylgruppe ist.2. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die ResteR, und R. Wasserstoff sind.-19-509841/08583 β Funktionelle Flüssigkeit gemäß Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Basis material ein Phosphatester der nachfolgenden allgemeinen FormelIlR10-O-P-O-R8 0worin die Reste Rg, Rq und R10 Kohlenwasserstoffreste, nämlich Alkyl-, Alkoxyalky1-, Aralkyl-, Aroxyalkyl-, Aryl-, Aroxyaryl-, Alkoxyaryl- und/oder Alkarylreste sind und die halogenierten und alkylsubstituierten Derivate hiervon mit bis zu etwa 18 Kohlenstoffatomen, ist.4β Funktionelle Flüssigkeit gemäß Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Reste Rq und R10 C,1g_Alkylreste sind und der Rest Rg ein Cgbis Cjg-Arylrest ist.5. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit gemäß Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Phosphatester Dibutylphenylphosphat ist.6. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit gemäß Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Epoxidverbindung O1 _.. p-Alkyl-3,4-epoxyeyclohexan ist·609841/08587. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit gemäß Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Phosphatester ein Gemisch von Iributylphosphat und Triarylphosphat ist.8. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit gemäß Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Epoxidverbindung C^-^-Alkyl-jS^-epoxycyclohexan ist.9. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß sie eine Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 3 und etwa 2-20 G-ew.$ einen Viskositätsindexverbesserer enthält, der ein Polymerisat eines Esters der allgemeinen Formel istIlR-G-C-ORr7 ,5 it IC-H
kworin jeder der Reste R,- und Rg, unabhängig von dem anderen, ein Wasserstoff atom oder eine C..- bis etwa C.0-Alkylgruppe und R~ eine G-- bis etwa C. p-Alkylgruppe ist.10. Funktionelle Flüssigkeit, dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß sie eine Zubereitung gemäß Anspruoh 3 und etwa 2 bis 20 Gtew.^ einen Viskositätsindexverbesserer enthält, der ein Polymerisat eines Alkylen-509841 /0858oxlds mit einem polymeren Molekulargewicht von etwa 1.500 bis 4.500 ist.11. Verfahren zum Betreiben einer hydraulischen Druckvorrichtung, bei der eine verdrängende Kraft auf ein verdrängbares Teil mittels einer hydraulischen Flüssigkeit übertragen wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Flüssigkeit eine Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 1 verwendet.12. Verfahren zum Betreiben einer hydraulischen Druckvorrichtung, bei der eine verdrängende Kraft auf ein verdrängbares Teil mittels einer hydraulischen Flüssigkeit übertragen wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Flüssigkeit eine Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 4 verwendet.509341/0858
