Abstract
Fire-extinguishing rocket consists of an engine part and a disintegratable load-carrying head whose outer wall consists of individual separate wall parts which extend parallel to the rocket axis and have their rear ends joined to the engine part, to flap out. The front parts of the wall parts are held together by a ring which can be disintegrated using a time fuze. Preferably the wall parts are locked in the flapped-out state by latches, and are inclined or curved to cause automatic rotation of the engine part when flapped out. The engine part is thus braked and brought to earth without causing damage, after the extinguishant load has been ejected. Typically the rocket is used for aircraft fins, the extinguishant beind discharged when the rocket is at the peak of its trajectory over the aircraft.
