Abstract
Mine is intended to be laid by means of a projectile, esp. a mother-projectile, or by a bomb or a rocket. It is provided with braking surfaces constituted by articulated panels; these are folded against each other during storage. The mine consists of an envelope, a deformable seating, an explosive charge and an igniter for the latter behind a screen. The cavity in the seating is reserved for a parachute. The braking panels are provided with a number of holes, according to the braking effect desired. A number of such mines can be stacked inside the body of the mother projectile. When the mines are to be laid the projectile is opened by means of a detonating fuse or a powder charge; the braking surfaces open out first, followed by the parachute. This stabilises and orientates the mine so that, on landing, its active surface is uppermost and any overturning is avoided. Although more esp. an anti-tank mine it can be employed for anti-personnel purposes.
