Description

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Herstellen einer aufreißbaren Heißsiegelverbindung einer EVA-modifizierten Polyäthylenfolie mit einem zu dieser gleichen oder unterschiedlichen Substrat.
Folien werden häufig miteinander versiegelt, um z. B. Verbundfolien herzustellen, wobei die Folien mit ihren gesamten Flächen miteinander versiegelt werdet;, oder um einen Bt./.el zu verschließen, wobei sich ein fester, schwer aufre«<barer Verschluß ergibt.
Ferner iss es üblich, flexible Verpackungen aus einer thermoplastischen Folie, beispielsweise von e!ner Rolle, herzustellen, indem die Folie zu einem Beutel oder dergleichen geformt wird, dessen Kanten miteinander verschweißt werden. Auch hier ergibt sich ein sehr fester, nur schwer aufreißbarer Verschluß.
F-s ist auch ein Verfahren bekannt (FR-PS 14 58 436). bei welchem eine Polyäthylenfolie ohne Klebemittel mit einem unterschiedlichen Substrat verbunden wird. Zu diesem Zweck wird eine schmelzflüssige Polyäthylenfolie unter Anwesenheit einer Gasatmosphäre einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzt, wodurch die behandelte Oberfläche aktiviert wird und auf das Substrat aufgebracht werden kann, wobei /ährend der Aufbringung die geschmolzene Polyathylenfolie gekühlt wird. Dieses bekannte Verfahren ist sehr aufwendig, und es führt ebenfalls zu einer festen Verbindung.
F.s ist auch ein Verfahren zum Herstellen von Packungen bekannt (DE-AS 12 36997). bei welchem eine Polyathylenfolie um das Verpackungsgut gelegt und beispielsweise durch U-V-Bestrahlung einseitig oxidiert wird, wodurch das Material so beeinträchtigt wird, daß eine Verschweißung verhältnismäßig lange Zeit erfordert, so daß durch Wahl einer bestimmten Schweiß/reit eine Schweißnaht mit gewünschter Festigkeit erreichbar ist. Hier bereitet die Einhaltung einer vorbestimmten Schweißdauer Schwierigkeiten, so daß die Gefahr besteht, daß die Verbindung entweder /u fest und damit schwer lösbar oder zu wenig fest wird. Außerdem ist durch die verlängerie Schweißzeit de EHG-Verbrauch erheblich.
Fs ist bekannt (Druckschrift »Plastics« Nov. I9b4. Seite 80. und Zeitschrift »Kautschuk und (iummi«. I9b1. Seiten WT 21- WT 32. insbesondere Seite WT 23. Ab- $a>/ ?. und Seite WT 24. rechte Spalte, letzter Absatz), dall Athvlen-Vinylacetat-C'opolymere mit einem Vinylacetat-Gehalt von 20—30% ausgezeichnete Heißkleber sind, die sehr leicht hcißsiegelbar sind und die als Schichtharze verwendbar sind, wobei sie eine hohe Festigkeit aufweisen.
Es sind ferner Polyäthylenfolien für Verpackungszwecke bekannt, die einen Zusatz von nur einigen Prozent an Äthylvinylacetat (F.VA) enthalten, wodurch die Folie eine größere Biegbarkeit und Dehnbarkeil erhält. Derartige Folien lassen sich weitgehend wie übliche reine Polväthvlcnfolien miteinander verschwel Bert, wodurch sich die übliche feste Verbindung ergibt.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Verfahren zum Herstellen einer aufreißbaren Heißsiegelverbindung der eingangs genannten Art zu schaffen, mit welchem eine Versiegelung mit sich widersprechenden Eigenschaften, nämlich einerseits eine ausreichend feste i-nd widerstandsfähige andererseits aber aufreißbars Heißsiegelverbindung erreichbar ist. Dies wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch erreicht, daß die Verbin-Ki dungsfläche der EVA-modifizierten Polyäi'iylenfolie vor dem Versiegeln einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzt wird. Hierdurch wird das in der Polyäthylenfolie enthaltene Vinylacetat auf die der Koronaentladung ausgesetzte Oberfläche gebracht, d. h. es bildet sich hier is eine sehr dünne, gegenüber der übrigen Folie mit Vinylacetat angereicherte Schicht, die einerseits eine ausreichend feste Heißsiegelverbindung ermöglicht, die aber andererseits wegen ihrer geringen Dicke eine Trennung ermöglicht, ohne daß die Folie dabei beschädigt wird.
Ausführungsformen der Erfindung sind in den Zeichnungen beispielsweise dargestellt, und zwar zeigt Fig. 1 die Herstellung einer aus drei Schichten bestehenden Verbundfolie.

Die Voi richtung der F i g. 1 dient dazu, eine Verbundfolie die aus drei untereinander verbundenen «o Folien besteht, herzustellen. Die Figur zeigt eine Rolle mit Folienmaterial 11. die an einer IJüerzugsvorrichtung 13. zum Beifügen eines Klebstoffes vorbeigeführt wird. Die Folie läuft dabei über eine Führungsrolle 12. wird bei 14 getrocknet, bevor sie über eine weitere Führungsrolle 15 geführt wird. Eine weitere Folie, die einen Teil der Verbundfolie bildet, wird von einer Rolle 17 zugeführt und mit der Folie 11 zwischen Druckwalzen 16 eingeführt. Schließlich führt eine Rolle 19 eine EVA-modifizierte Polyathylenfolie zu. die an der Seite. die an die von de.- Rolle 17 kommende Folie angrenzt und einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzt wurde, wobei die Polyathylenfolie mit den beiden anderen Folien zwischen zwei Druckwalzen 18 gebracht wird, worauf die Folien der Wärme eines Erhitzers 10 ausgesetzt wird. Daraufhin wird die Verbundfolie auf eine Rolle 11' gewickelt. Die Verwendung einer EVA-modifizierten Polyathylenfolie bewirkt, daß das Polyäthylen nicht so stark erwärmt zu werden braucht, bis es schmilzt, da die Adhäsion durch den EVA Gehalt erreicht wird, der durch die Koronaentladung aktiviert wurde, wobei sich der EVA-Gehalt in einer adhäsiven Schicht an der behandelten Seite der folie anreichert.
F i g. 2 zeigt, wie eine einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzte EVA-modifizierte Polyathylenfolie 24 mit hr> einer aus einem F.\truder 21 kommenden Folie verbunden werden kann. In diesem Fall ist es möglich, die in der aus dem Extruder kommenden Folie 22 vorhandene Wärme auszunutzen, bevor die Folie
abgekühlt wird. Sie k.i·;··. jher auch -,!bgekiihit und später wieder erwärmt werden. In beiden Fällen besteht die Möglichkeit, mit Hilfe der begrenzten Wärmemenge in dieser Folie 22, diese zum Haften an der einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzten Seite einer EVA-r.uxlifizierien Polyäthylenfolie 24 zu bringen. Dies erfolgt mit Hilfe der Druckwalzen 23 und 23. Die Veibiinduj'itr win;! dann auf die Rolle 26 aufgewickelt.
Die im Extruder hergestellte Folie kann aus Polyamid, Polypropylen, PVC. Polyäthylen, Polystyrol oder einem anderen thermoplastischen Kunststoff bestehen.
Es is; ί'.ίί'-crn-m möglich, wie aus Fig. 3 zu ersehen ist, zwei gleichartige oder nicht gleichartige Folien durch eine eingefügte EVA-modifizierte Polyäthylenfolie zu verbinden, die an beiden Seilen einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzt worden ist. Daraufhin lassen sich diese drei Folien miteinander versiegeln, wobei sie einer beschränkten Wärmemenge ausgesetzt werden, da die beidseitig einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzte EVA-modifizierte Polyäthylenfolie als Klebemittel zwischen den beiden anderen Schichten der Verbundfolie wirkt. F i g. 3 zeigt zwei Folier.rollen 31,33 sowie eine Rolle 32 mit einer auf beiden Seiten einer Koronaenthdung ausgesetzten EVA-modifizierten Polyäthylenfolie. Die Folien der Rollen 31, 32 und 33 werden zwischen zwei Druckwalzen 34 gebracht und der Wärme eines Erhitzers 35 ausgesetzt. Die so gebildete dreifache Verbundfolie wird dann auf eine Rolle 36 aufgesvickelt.
Die F i g. 4a, 4b und 4c zeigen ein Verpackungsmaterial, das eine Folie 41 enthält. Der schraffierte Teil stellt eine EVA-modifizierte Polyäthylenfolie dar. welche an der dem unschraffierten Teil gegenüberliegenden Seite der Folie einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzt wurde, wobei die der Koronaentladung ausgesetzte Seite der Folie nut einer anderen Folie 42 verbunden wird, wobei durch eine unter Druck erfolgende geeignete Wärmebehandlung eine aufreißbare Schweiüung erreicht wird. In diesem Fall kann eine geeignete Wärmebehandlung bei einer Temperatur von I35°C in einer /"tlispann·* von 0,5 see und einem Druck von 2,8 bui liegen. Beispiele für gc.'vgneie Werkstoffe, um eine aufreißbare Schweißnaht in Verbindung mit einer einer Koronaentladung ..;i;■·£< setzten Seite einer EVA-modifizierten Polyü;iiylenfolie zu bilden, können eine mit Zellulosenitrat beschichtete Zellulosefolie, eine unbeschichtete PoIj
lu esterfolie, eine PVDC beschichtete Polyesterfolie, eine PVDC beschichtete, gereckte Polypropylenfolie, eine Polyathylenfüiie mit normaiei niedriger Dich'e in unbehandeltem Zustand, eine einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzte Polyäthylenfolie mit normaler niedriger Dichte, eine unbehandelte Polyäthylenfolie großer Dichte, Aluminiumfolien, harte wie weiche Papierarten wie i. B. Papyrine, Polyvinylchlorid (PVC), oder eine einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzte EVA-modifizierte Polyäthylenfolie sein. .
Die Festigkeit der erreichten Schweißungen einer Polyamidfolie »nit einer einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzten Polyäthylenfolie bzw. einer EV modifizierten Polyäthylenfoiie wurde gemessen und erre::nte dabei die folgenden Werte:

Claims (1)

  1. Patentanspruch:
    Verfahren zum Herstellen einer aufreiQbaren Heißsiegelverbindung einer EVA-modifizierten Polyäthylenfolie mit einem zu dieser gleichen oder unterschiedlichen Substrat, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Verbindungsfläche der EVA-modifizierten Polyäthylenfolie vor dem Versiegeln einer Koronaentladung ausgesetzt wird.
